Jordan’s King Abdullah Announces Refugee Commitment After Meeting with Trump
Trump secures a major diplomatic win as Jordan steps up to help resolve the Gaza crisis.

President Donald Trump scored a major diplomatic victory this week as King Abdullah II of Jordan agreed to accept refugees into his country following a high-stakes White House meeting. The agreement comes after Trump applied pressure on both Jordan and Egypt to take in displaced Gazans a demand both nations initially resisted.
The meeting, which included discussions on Trump’s broader Gaza proposal, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and counterterrorism efforts, saw the Jordanian monarch step up in a significant way. Abdullah not only expressed support for Trump’s leadership in the region but also immediately offered to take in 2,000 sick children from Gaza.
Trump called Abdullah’s gesture “beautiful” and thanked him for his willingness to help.
The meeting marked the first official encounter between Trump and Abdullah since Hamas and Israel agreed to a ceasefire.
Trump reaffirmed his position that Hamas must return all hostages by Saturday, stating, “They want to play tough guy, but we’ll see how tough they are.”
During their discussions, Trump made it clear that the United States would not be purchasing Gaza, but rather, overseeing its redevelopment to ensure long-term stability. “Nobody is going to question it,” Trump stated, outlining a future that includes large-scale economic development, housing, hotels, and office buildings.
Abdullah acknowledged the challenges ahead but said he was open to solutions that serve everyone’s interests. “I think it is our collective responsibility in the Middle East to continue to work with you and to support you,” he told Trump.
Trump also doubled down on his demand for Hamas to release all remaining hostages, drawing a stark comparison between their current condition and that of Holocaust survivors. “I don’t know how much longer we can take it,” Trump said, reinforcing the urgency of the situation.
The agreement with Jordan is a significant step in reshaping the region, demonstrating Trump’s ability to apply strategic pressure and secure results. With this deal in place, all eyes are now on Egypt to see whether they will follow suit.
