Ken Paxton Will Run Against John Cornyn
The Texas Attorney General is taking aim at the DC swamp and Cornyn’s anti-Trump record.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has officially launched his campaign to unseat Senator John Cornyn in 2026, setting up a seismic political showdown that could reshape the future of the Republican Party in the Lone Star State.
Paxton, a staunch defender of President Donald Trump and a vocal critic of the Washington establishment, made the announcement during an appearance on The Ingraham Angle. “It’s definitely time for a change in Texas,” Paxton declared. “We have a great U.S. Senator, Ted Cruz, and it’s time we have another great senator that will actually stand up for Republican values… and support Donald Trump.”
Paxton’s message was clear: John Cornyn has failed Texas conservatives.
Cornyn has supported gun control measures, aligning with Democrats and undermining the Second Amendment a betrayal to every gun-owning Texan.
He refused to back Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns effectively siding with the media and the swamp when it mattered most.
He’s consistently prioritized Ukraine over the U.S. border, earning him the nickname “Senator Ukraine” from Paxton himself.
Paxton pulled no punches, stating it’s “hard to think of the things [Cornyn has] done good for Texas or for the country.” That’s not just political rhetoric it’s a fact felt by millions of Texans who’ve watched their senator grow increasingly out of touch.
While Cornyn continues to cozy up to Senate leadership and globalist interests, Ken Paxton has been on the front lines defending conservative values. From protecting women’s sports and shutting down campus drag shows, to prosecuting illegal abortionists and suing the Biden administration over border failures, Paxton has proven he's not afraid to fight and win.
Cornyn’s allies have floated Trump’s endorsement as a potential firewall, but that might be a long shot. Let’s not forget that Trump once called Cornyn “weak and ineffective,” and seriously considered Paxton for U.S. Attorney General. The writing on the wall is clear: Trump’s base has already chosen their candidate.
In fact, a recent poll shows Paxton leading Cornyn by 20 points a massive advantage that underscores just how much Texas Republicans are done with the old guard.
John Cornyn has been in Washington for over 20 years. That’s more than enough time to prove where he stands and unfortunately, it's not with Trump, not with the America First movement, and certainly not with Texas. Ken Paxton is stepping up to change that.
