Kash Patel Shuts Down Senator’s Attempt to Twist FBI Testimony

When Sen. Patty Murray couldn’t force her narrative, she made up her own right there in the hearing.

During a tense Senate hearing on Thursday, FBI Director Patel firmly rebuked an aggressive attempt by Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) to corner him into parroting a narrative of “politicization” inside the Bureau. When he wouldn’t fold, she simply gave the answer she wanted herself.

In a move straight from the D.C. playbook, Murray led with a loaded question about whether Patel was “weaponizing” the FBI. Patel responded with real-world examples of FBI agents arresting criminals and safeguarding American lives. But Murray didn’t want truth she wanted headlines.

  • “That’s not my question,” she snapped.

  • “Well, you asked if I was weaponizing the FBI and I am not,” Patel replied. “I’m giving you the hard concrete examples. I do not see weaponization.”

  • When Murray tried to twist his personnel decisions such as placing agents on leave into partisan attacks, Patel drew the line.

  • “I have not placed anyone on leave who has not violated their ethical obligation or their oath to the Constitution,” he said.

  • “I think the common theme is you putting words in my mouth, and I’m not going to tolerate it, nor will the men and women of the FBI.”

That moment right there? It’s why Patel was appointed. Because unlike the former bureaucrats who caved under pressure, he’s not there to play politics he’s there to clean house.

Let’s not forget:

  • Under previous leadership, the FBI launched baseless investigations into Trump campaign officials, while burying real corruption linked to Hunter Biden’s laptop.

  • A 2023 Gallup poll showed public trust in the FBI hit a 25-year low, directly correlating with revelations of political targeting under Obama- and Biden-era appointees.

  • Kash Patel himself was targeted by media and bureaucrats when he helped expose the Russia collusion hoax, a narrative now thoroughly debunked but never apologized for by the left.

And now, as Director, Patel is doing what Americans have begged for: restoring integrity to a broken institution. That includes holding agents accountable regardless of who they investigate even if the Democrats would rather you believe it's all political payback.

Murray's response? She turned the hearing into a soliloquy.

  • “The FBI needs to be focused on its mission. It should not be weaponized for partisan political gain,” she said after spending the last five minutes doing exactly that.

Here’s the truth Murray couldn’t spin: The FBI was weaponized. Just not by Patel.

It was weaponized under people like Comey and McCabe. It was weaponized when school board parents were labeled domestic terrorists, when whistleblowers were silenced, and when politically convenient cases were buried or amplified to suit Democrat priorities.

But those days are ending.

Because now, the man cleaning up the mess is the one who lived through it.

  • “If you want to talk about someone who was attacked by a weaponized bureau, you’re looking at him,” Patel said. “And now he’s the Director of the FBI.”

That’s what scares them. Not that the FBI might be politicized but that it might finally stop being so.
