Kamala Harris Pressured Teamsters for Endorsement and It Backfired

Union boss calls VP “smug” after failed attempt to strong-arm support ahead of 2024.

Kamala Harris might want to brush up on her people skills especially if she’s planning to lead the working class into 2024.

According to Teamsters President Sean O’Brien, the Vice President not only tried to bully the union into backing her, but managed to alienate much of its leadership in a single meeting. Speaking on Bari Weiss’s “Honestly” podcast, O’Brien revealed how Harris’s arrogant attitude and political grandstanding soured the Teamsters' impression of the Biden-Harris ticket altogether.

It all started during a meet-and-greet photo op, where Teamsters Vice President Joan Corey introduced herself to Harris. The VP’s response? A finger in Corey’s face and a command “Teamsters better get on board.”

Corey’s stunned reaction was echoed by O’Brien himself “The nerve!”

It didn’t end there. When Harris sat down with the union’s executive board, they came prepared 16 questions to understand where she stood on labor issues. But instead of honest dialogue, they got four half-baked answers before being cut off. Harris, according to O’Brien, pivoted to pontificating about why she “deserves” their support.

And then came the smug mic drop “I’m going to win with you or without you.”

That line, O’Brien said, turned the entire room against her.

Let’s break this down:

  • Harris ignored the Teamsters’ concerns and dodged their questions.

  • She tried to bully one of the most influential unions in the country into endorsing her campaign.

  • Her tone and attitude were so dismissive, union leaders could “smell it a mile away.”

It’s no wonder the Teamsters ultimately refused to endorse anyone in 2024 a move that drew rage from left-wing allies, Democratic senators, and online activists. But when a union built on strength and solidarity is treated like a campaign prop, what do they expect?

O’Brien has never been shy about holding both parties accountable. He’s criticized Democrats before, and now he’s calling out Harris for what many in the labor movement are quietly thinking: she’s out of touch and entitled.

After his appearance at the Republican National Convention, the backlash intensified but it didn’t come from workers. It came from political elites and keyboard warriors furious that a major union leader wouldn’t fall in line.

And this is the Democratic Party’s big plan for 2024?

Kamala Harris, who can't even connect with the very working-class voters she claims to champion, expects blind loyalty from unions she hasn't earned. If this is the Biden-Harris reelection strategy smug lectures and backroom threats then they should brace for a reality check come November.
