Speaker Johnson Backs Trump’s Mass Deportation Plan as Key to National Security
Johnson calls $88 billion deportation strategy a vital investment to protect America.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) strongly endorsed President-elect Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan during a weekend interview on NBC’s Meet The Press, calling it an essential investment in America’s safety and security. Johnson defended the plan, even as reports suggest it could cost up to $88 billion annually to deport one million illegal aliens.
“I cannot think of a better dollar-for-dollar investment than to restore the security and the safety of the country,” Johnson said. “We’ve had a wide-open border for four years, and millions upon millions of illegal persons.”
Johnson emphasized the importance of deporting individuals who have committed crimes, highlighting the dangers posed by violent offenders currently in the U.S.
“We have dangerous illegals in the country, criminals who have already committed crimes here, violent crimes against the American citizens,” Johnson explained. “The best thing we can do is return those people from where they came. And I think the American people understand that.”
Johnson referenced recent polling data to demonstrate widespread public backing for Trump’s plan. “I saw a New York Times poll, I think it was just two days ago, 87% of the American people agree that we should deport dangerous, illegal, criminal aliens,” he said.
This aligns with Trump’s broader immigration agenda, which aims to secure the border, crack down on illegal immigration, and remove individuals who threaten public safety.
Johnson criticized the lack of action under the Biden administration, citing the current border crisis as a direct result of failed Democratic leadership. Millions of illegal immigrants have entered the country in the last four years, straining resources and endangering communities.
“This is about protecting our nation,” Johnson stated. “And the American people know we need to do this now.”
As Trump prepares to take office, his administration’s focus on robust border policies and deportation reflects a commitment to restoring order and prioritizing American lives. The deportation plan is part of a larger $100 billion initiative to secure the border, increase ICE staffing, and enhance immigration enforcement.
With strong support from leaders like Speaker Johnson and overwhelming public approval, the Trump administration is set to act decisively to address the border crisis and restore safety to communities across the nation.
