Speaker Johnson Calls Out Democrat Double Standard on Iran Strikes

GOP leader reminds media that Obama and Biden bombed without Congress, but Trump gets attacked.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) took a blowtorch to the left’s latest attempt to undermine President Donald Trump, blasting Democrats on Monday for their sudden outrage over Trump’s decisive military action against Iran. Their problem isn’t about the Constitution it’s about politics.

When asked if he would bring a War Powers Resolution to the floor introduced by Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) Johnson shut it down immediately.

“I don’t think this is an appropriate time for a war powers resolution,” Johnson said. “Presidents of both parties have acted with the same commander in chief authority under Article II of the Constitution for 80 years.”

He went on to expose the glaring double standard:

  • Biden used military force three times in the Middle East without congressional approval.

  • Obama bombed Libya for eight straight months also without a green light from Congress.

  • Not a peep from Democrats about those operations.

“Suddenly now they’re just up in arms. It’s all politics,” Johnson added. “This is not a time for politics.”

Trump’s airstrikes over the weekend flattened Iran’s nuclear infrastructure in Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan strikes that his administration said were critical to halting Iran’s nuclear ambitions. Iran’s so-called retaliation, a missile barrage on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, ended in complete failure. No U.S. casualties. No damage. Just more smoke and noise from a regime in decline.

That hasn’t stopped Democrats from dusting off their old anti-Trump playbook.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) accused Trump of violating the Constitution, despite not even reviewing the resolution he supposedly supports.
“It’s not optional, Donald,” Jeffries scoffed in a press conference Monday.

Even Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), a familiar face in the left’s endless war powers saga, is pushing his own resolution in the Senate.

But the truth is this: Democrats had no problem with unilateral military action as long as their guy was the one dropping bombs. This outrage isn't about legality; it’s about politics and power. And Johnson made that crystal clear.

President Trump acted within his authority, struck with precision, and left the enemy shaken. The result? A weakened Iran and an emboldened America.
