Speaker Johnson Exposes Democrats’ 99% Vote to Shut Down Government

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson delivered a sobering truth this weekend that cuts through the media noise: 99% of Democrats in Congress voted to shut down the federal government, all to score cheap political points.

Appearing on Fox News' "Life, Liberty, & Levin," Johnson called out the stunning display of "raw partisan politics" after only a single House Democrat, Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME), voted in favor of the Republican-led continuing resolution to keep the government funded through September 30. In the Senate, just two Democrats Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Sen. Angus King (I-ME) stood against the tide and supported keeping the government open.

Rand Paul (R-KY) broke from the GOP, warning that the continuing resolution still funds bloated programs the Trump administration is targeting through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), spearheaded by Elon Musk. However, Johnson pushed back, emphasizing the bill showed genuine fiscal restraint a rare accomplishment in Washington.
