Speaker Johnson Rips Democrats for Hypocrisy Over Trump’s Iran Strike

GOP leader defends Trump’s authority and exposes Dems’ silence during Obama’s unauthorized wars.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) isn’t letting Democrats get away with rewriting history. On Tuesday, he blasted left-wing leaders for calling President Donald Trump’s precision strike on Iranian nuclear facilities “unconstitutional,” pointing out their stunning silence when Democratic presidents launched military operations without a single vote from Congress.

“None of them ever complained when Barack Obama and Joe Biden used the same authority to drop bombs all over the Middle East,” Johnson told Fox & Friends. “It’s entirely inconsistent with their previous actions, and I think we call them on that hypocrisy.”

The attack on Trump came after he authorized airstrikes on three Iranian enrichment sites strikes that crippled Iran’s nuclear ambitions and likely prevented a larger regional war. But instead of acknowledging the success, Democrats including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer pounced with tired war powers complaints.

Jeffries claimed Trump “misled the country” and warned the U.S. could be dragged into “a potentially disastrous war.” Schumer ranted that Trump had no strategy and accused him of issuing “erratic threats.” Both are now pushing legislation to limit the president’s ability to strike Iran again.

Speaker Johnson wasn’t buying it. He confirmed that the White House did attempt to contact Democratic leadership before the strikes Schumer answered, Jeffries didn’t. But more importantly, he dismantled the core argument.

“It is ridiculous for anyone to assert that the Commander-In-Chief should have to consult all the members of Congress or even all the leadership every time he has to make a decisive, quick action,” Johnson said.

Let’s look at the record:

  • Bill Clinton bombed Kosovo, Haiti, Bosnia, and Somalia no authorization.

  • Obama waged war in Libya and Syria without congressional approval, ignoring the War Powers Resolution’s time limits.

  • Joe Biden bombed Syria and Somalia early in his presidency without hesitation and no Democratic outrage.

But when Trump acts swiftly to eliminate a nuclear threat? Suddenly, it’s “authoritarian” and “unconstitutional.”

The media won’t say it, but this is pure political theater. Democrats were silent under their own presidents and now feign outrage when Trump takes strong, decisive action that makes America safer.

Trump's airstrike was legal, necessary, and effective. And the only real constitutional crisis is Democrats pretending they care about it now.
