JD Vance Heads to Minneapolis to Support ICE and Confront Anti-Immigration Violence

Vice President JD Vance is heading straight into the belly of the beast. On Thursday, he will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota now labeled “ground zero” for violent anti-ICE protests and sanctuary city chaos to meet with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, local officials, and community members.

The visit marks a critical moment in the Trump administration’s broader plan to restore law and order, confront sanctuary city lawlessness, and show unapologetic support for the agents who risk their lives protecting our borders.

Before arriving in Minneapolis, Vance will stop at an industrial facility in Toledo, Ohio, where he’ll deliver remarks focused on economic growth, rising wages, and job creation in the Midwest delivering another sharp contrast between Trump’s America First agenda and Biden’s economic wreckage.

But the centerpiece of the day is Minnesota, a state that has become a flashpoint in the battle over illegal immigration, law enforcement, and federal authority.

“Minnesota has become ground zero for attacks on ICE officials and illegal, violent anti-ICE protests,” a White House official told The Daily Wire.

Vance’s visit comes amid escalating violence against ICE agents, including multiple vehicle attacks and assaults by both criminal illegal aliens and far-left agitators in recent weeks. Despite these crimes, local Democrat leaders have done nothing to support federal officers and, in many cases, have actively worked to undermine them.

What to expect during the VP’s visit:

• A roundtable discussion with law enforcement and community members on the public safety failures created by sanctuary city policies.

• Direct meetings with ICE agents to reinforce the administration’s full support for their mission and safety.

• A strong message to Minneapolis leadership that the Trump administration is watching and ready to act.

“The sanctuary city policies here have degraded public safety and endangered ICE officers,” a senior official stated. “That ends now.”

Vance’s stop in Minnesota also ties directly into a new fraud enforcement initiative announced by the Vice President last week. From the White House podium, he unveiled the creation of a new Assistant Attorney General post dedicated to prosecuting abuse of taxpayer-funded programs starting in Minneapolis, where massive fraud by non-citizens has already siphoned millions from programs intended for American families.

“Those programs should go to American citizens, not be defrauded by Somali immigrants and others,” Vance said bluntly. “This is about restoring fairness and accountability.”

Under President Trump and Vice President Vance, immigration enforcement is once again being treated as a national security priority not a political nuisance. ICE officers aren’t the enemy they’re the front line in a war against cartels, traffickers, and criminals pouring over the southern border, thanks to years of open border policies and local obstructionism.

While left-wing politicians in Minneapolis and other blue cities lecture Americans on “compassion,” they’ve turned their jurisdictions into lawless zones where criminal aliens walk free, taxpayer dollars disappear, and federal officers get attacked for doing their jobs.

Vice President Vance is bringing a message those politicians don’t want to hear. The days of ignoring federal law are over. The Trump administration will enforce it and defend those who carry it out.
