JD Vance Shuts Down Mehdi Hasan Over Free Speech Hypocrisy
The vice president exposed the left’s double standard on censorship after The AP was barred from the White House.

Vice President JD Vance wasted no time dismantling yet another leftist talking point, taking former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan to task over a spat about free speech and The Associated Press. The controversy erupted after the Trump administration barred The AP from the White House for refusing to update its style guide to reflect the newly renamed Gulf of America.
Predictably, the left-wing media rushed to claim this was an attack on free speech. Hasan, eager to pile on, declared that blocking The AP from the White House was a violation of press freedom. But Vance shut that nonsense down in seconds.
“Yes dummy. I think there’s a difference between not giving a reporter a seat in the WH press briefing room and jailing people for dissenting views,” Vance fired back on X. “The latter is a threat to free speech, the former is not. Hope that helps!”
Vance’s response wasn’t just a takedown of Hasan it was a much-needed reality check for the entire mainstream media. For years, these so-called journalists have cheered on censorship when it benefits their narrative.
Big Tech collusion: Leftist media outlets worked hand-in-hand with social media giants to silence conservatives, banning accounts and burying stories like Hunter Biden’s laptop.
Government-backed censorship: The Biden administration pressured platforms to suppress speech under the guise of fighting "misinformation."
Selective outrage: The same media that cries about The AP being barred had no problem when the Biden White House tried to revoke Fox News' press credentials.
Hasan and his allies don't actually care about free speech they care about controlling the narrative.
Vance didn’t stop at Hasan’s nonsense. During a speech in Munich, he warned European leaders about the growing push to criminalize speech, a warning that was met with immediate backlash from American media.
CBS News' Margaret Brennan took things to a new level, outrageously claiming that “free speech was weaponized” to cause the Holocaust. Just hours later, 60 Minutes aired a segment praising German authorities for making it illegal to post insults or spread so-called “lies” online.
Vance called out this disturbing trend, making it clear that America should not follow Europe’s dangerous path:
“Insulting someone is not a crime, and criminalizing speech is going to put real strain on European-US relationships. This is Orwellian, and everyone in Europe and the US must reject this lunacy,” he said.
The left wants to redefine “free speech” so it only protects those who agree with them. JD Vance, along with President Trump, is making sure that doesn’t happen. Hasan and his media allies can cry all they want, but Americans are waking up to their hypocrisy.
