Vice President JD Vance Holds Diplomatic Talks with World Leaders in France

Vance meets with world leaders, champions American AI leadership, and pushes for fair trade.

Vice President JD Vance spent the day in France, engaging with world leaders and reinforcing America’s leadership in artificial intelligence, trade, and global security. His visit included high-level meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, European Commission leaders, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as delivering a keynote speech at the Artificial Intelligence Summit.

In his remarks at the summit, Vance made it clear that the United States under the Trump administration is committed to being the world’s dominant force in AI innovation.

“This administration will continue to ensure that American AI technology continues to be the gold standard worldwide,” he stated. “We are the partner of choice for others, foreign countries, and certainly businesses, as they expand their own use of AI.”

Vance emphasized four key priorities for U.S. leadership in AI:

  • Ensuring America remains the premier AI innovator on the global stage.

  • Preventing excessive regulation that could stifle progress and economic growth.

  • Combatting political bias in AI systems to ensure fairness and neutrality.

  • Protecting American workers as AI technology evolves.

The summit was attended by prominent figures, including Macron, outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as major tech executives.

Beyond AI, Vance used his visit to reaffirm America’s commitment to strong international relationships and fair trade policies.

At the Élysée Palace, Vance and his wife, Usha, met with Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron. Their discussion focused on ensuring balanced trade between the U.S. and France, as well as collaborating on AI models and working toward ending the war in Ukraine.

Later, Vance met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas at the U.S. Ambassador’s Residence in Paris. The leaders addressed critical global issues, including resolving the conflict in Ukraine and securing fair and reciprocal trade agreements between the U.S. and the European Union.

“The Vice President also discussed the Trump Administration’s efforts to unleash American energy,” the White House said in a statement, reinforcing Trump’s push for energy independence and security.

One of the more heartwarming moments of the trip came during Vance’s meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi wished a happy birthday to Vance’s son, Vivek, and gifted presents to the Vance children. Over coffee, the two leaders discussed key topics, including how the United States can assist India in diversifying its energy sources through investments in clean and reliable U.S. nuclear technology.

The Vance family also took time to enjoy France’s rich culture, touring the Louvre Museum on Tuesday evening while it was closed to the public. Their arrival in France on Tuesday morning also caught attention, as photographers captured images of the Vance children, wrapped in pajamas and winter coats, stepping off Air Force 2 after their long flight across the Atlantic.

Vance’s visit to France showcased a vice president who is not only deeply involved in policy but also committed to strengthening America’s global standing through diplomacy, economic leadership, and innovation.
