Two Israeli Diplomats Murdered in DC by Pro-Palestinian Gunman

Terror strikes the nation’s capital as an anti-Israel assailant executes embassy staff outside Jewish museum.

Two young Israeli diplomats were gunned down execution-style outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., in what authorities are calling a targeted, hate-driven act of violence. The victims, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were staff members of the Israeli Embassy and were reportedly on the verge of getting engaged.

The attack happened Wednesday night around 9:08 p.m., just after the two left an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee, which focused on humanitarian discussions related to Gaza. Instead of dialogue, the night ended in bloodshed.

Elias Rodriguez, a 30-year-old from Chicago, was arrested at the scene and is in custody. According to D.C. Police Chief Pamela Smith, the suspect was seen pacing outside the museum before pulling out a gun and opening fire on a group of people exiting the event specifically targeting the two Israeli diplomats. After murdering them, he reportedly ran into the museum and screamed “Free, free Palestine!” as he was subdued by security.

Rodriguez’s weapon was recovered at the scene. Early evidence suggests the killer acted alone, but authorities are investigating whether this was a hate crime or terror-related act a distinction that matters little to the families who have just lost loved ones.

  • The attack took place at an event attended by young Jewish professionals working in foreign policy.

  • Both victims were shot at close range, confirming the calculated and personal nature of the killing.

  • FBI and DHS are now involved in what may be a federal terrorism investigation.

"This evening, a terrorist shot and killed them as they exited an event," the Israeli Embassy stated, calling it a devastating loss. Ambassador Yechiel Leiter confirmed the two were dating and that Lischinsky had planned to propose in Jerusalem next week. Now, instead of celebrating a future, their families are left to bury their children.

The shooting sent shockwaves through the Jewish community and diplomatic circles alike. Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon called it “a depraved act of anti-Semitic terrorism” and demanded swift action from U.S. officials. D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser tried to downplay the larger threat by calling the situation “not an active threat,” but this wasn’t random violence. This was ideologically fueled murder, in the heart of the U.S. capital.

Let’s be clear: This is what happens when you tolerate hate disguised as activism. When calls to “Free Palestine” are met with applause instead of scrutiny, and violent slogans like “From the river to the sea” are treated as political statements instead of what they are calls for ethnic cleansing this is the result.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem said DHS is actively investigating, promising justice. But if justice is to be served, we need more than arrests. We need acknowledgment from the highest levels of government that anti-Israel rhetoric and rising antisemitism are fueling real-world violence even right here at home.

The silence from progressive leaders, many of whom are quick to condemn Israeli self-defense but slow to speak when Jews are slaughtered, is deafening. Not one word from the Squad. Not a single statement from the same crowd that champions "equity" unless it involves defending the Jewish state.

This wasn’t just a murder. It was a terrorist attack on U.S. soil, aimed at representatives of an allied democracy. And the fact that it happened at a Jewish museum, during an event promoting humanitarian solutions, speaks volumes about the depravity of the ideology behind it.
