Israel Strikes Nearly 500 Targets in Syria to Thwart Terrorist Armament

In a decisive move against escalating threats, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched nearly 500 strikes across Syria in just two days. The campaign aims to prevent advanced weaponry from falling into the hands of terrorist groups operating in the region. The strikes target military assets that could pose a dire threat to Israel’s security and stability.

• Israeli Navy missile ships struck the Al-Bayda and Latakia ports, obliterating approximately 15 Syrian naval vessels. The IDF reported destroying dozens of sea-to-sea missiles, each capable of carrying devastating explosive payloads with ranges of 80–190 kilometers.

• Fighter pilots from the Israel Air Force (IAF) executed over 350 airstrikes, targeting a spectrum of strategic military infrastructure, including anti-aircraft batteries, airfields, and weapons production sites in key locations like Damascus, Homs, Tartus, and Palmyra.

The IDF emphasized that its efforts neutralized numerous strategic weapons systems, including Scud and cruise missiles, advanced drones, fighter jets, and more. “Dozens of weapons production sites were rendered inoperable, ensuring they cannot be repurposed for future threats,” the IDF stated.

Retired British Colonel Richard Kemp described the campaign as one of the most intense in Israel’s history, calling it a “strategic masterstroke.” In a statement on X, Kemp noted:

• Israel effectively dismantled Syria’s air force, navy, and air defenses, along with critical Command, Control, and Intelligence (C2I) systems.

• Reports suggest that chemical weapons capabilities were also neutralized, eliminating another potential threat to regional stability.

• The campaign significantly degraded Hezbollah’s operational capacity while delivering a blow to Iranian influence in Syria.

“This eliminates a significant threat to Israel and further degrades & neutralizes the remnants of Hezbollah,” Kemp remarked. “It is also yet another hammer blow to Iran.”

The strikes signal Israel’s unwavering resolve to safeguard its security and preemptively dismantle threats emanating from Iran-backed proxies in the region. By targeting weapons systems, infrastructure, and personnel critical to Syria’s and Hezbollah’s military capabilities, Israel has reasserted its dominance and redefined the rules of engagement.
