Israel Eliminates Top Iranian Revolutionary Guard Commander In Massive Strike

Netanyahu launches "Rising Lion" operation as Iran moves dangerously close to nuclear weapons.

In a major escalation of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, Israeli forces eliminated Hossein Salami, the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in a precision strike. Iranian state media confirmed Salami’s death along with the deaths of other top military officials and nuclear scientists involved in Tehran’s nuclear weapons program.

Earlier the same day, Salami had released a video boasting that Iran’s next confrontation with Israel would be “far more crushing, devastating, and destructive.” Just hours later, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu authorized a bold preemptive strike, codenamed "Rising Lion," to neutralize the growing threat.

  • Israel’s strikes targeted nuclear enrichment facilities, nuclear weaponization sites, top scientists, and ballistic missile program locations.

  • The Iranian regime was reportedly just weeks away from producing its first nuclear weapon.

  • Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a “special situation” across Israel, warning of high probability for Iranian retaliation.

“The Jewish State refuses to be a victim of the nuclear Holocaust perpetrated by the Iranian regime,” Netanyahu declared in a video statement announcing the strikes. The Israeli Air Force launched the operation late Thursday evening, targeting key Iranian sites believed to be central to their nuclear weapons ambitions.

IDF spokesperson BG Effie Defrin provided further details: “Over the past few months, intelligence has shown that Iran is closer than ever to obtaining a nuclear weapon. We have no choice. We are operating against an imminent and existential threat.”

The operation comes at a moment of extreme urgency. Reports confirm that Iran has accumulated enough enriched uranium for multiple nuclear bombs and has accelerated its weaponization program in recent months. Without intervention, Tehran could have had a fully operational nuclear arsenal within weeks.

President Donald Trump, speaking earlier on Thursday, acknowledged the high stakes involved but reiterated his long-held preference for a diplomatic resolution. “Whether it’s going in or not going in, they can’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said. “I’d prefer the more friendly path.”

Still, as Iran continued its dangerous march toward nuclear capability, Israel was left with little choice but to act decisively. This latest strike underscores the growing global threat posed by Iran’s regime and the failure of weak Western leadership that has allowed Tehran to operate with near-impunity for years.

While Israel takes bold steps to protect its people and prevent a nuclear disaster, the world watches closely to see how the Iranian regime will respond and whether the United States will finally stand firmly alongside its strongest ally in the Middle East.
