Israel Eliminates Hezbollah’s Top Military Commander in Beirut Strike

In a major blow to Iran’s terror proxy network, Israel has confirmed the elimination of Haytham Ali Tabatabai, Hezbollah’s top military commander and chief of staff, in a precision Beirut airstrike on Sunday. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the operation as a decisive move in Israel’s ongoing campaign to dismantle Hezbollah’s leadership and crush any attempt to rebuild its terrorist infrastructure.

“Tabatabai is a mass murderer. His hands are soaked in the blood of many Israelis and Americans,” Netanyahu said, noting that the U.S. had previously placed a $5 million bounty on Tabatabai’s head.

The airstrike was reportedly carried out based on intelligence recommendations from Israel’s Defense Minister and the IDF Chief of Staff, with confirmation of Tabatabai’s death posted by Hezbollah on their Telegram channel, naming him “Sayyed Abu Ali.”

Tabatabai wasn’t just another Hezbollah thug. He was a senior commander in the Radwan Force, the elite Hezbollah unit tasked with carrying out cross-border attacks into northern Israel. According to Israeli officials, Tabatabai played a leading role in preparing a planned invasion of the Galilee, targeting Israeli civilians.

Most recently, he had been spearheading Hezbollah’s efforts to rearm and regroup after suffering devastating losses in the Pager Operation, which saw the destruction of key missile stockpiles and the reported killing of Nasrallah Hezbollah’s longtime leader.

This strike sends a clear message Israel will not wait for terror to reach its borders it will eliminate threats where they begin.

“The policy I am leading is absolutely clear. Under my leadership, the State of Israel will not allow Hezbollah to rebuild its power and we will not allow it to pose a threat again,” Netanyahu declared.

Netanyahu also called on the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah, warning that continued tolerance of the Iran-backed terror group would plunge the country deeper into instability.

“Only in this way can a better future be made possible for every citizen in Lebanon,” he said, pressing Beirut to choose peace over terror.

Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed the urgency, stating:

“Anyone who raises a hand against Israel will have his hand cut off.”
