Israeli Ambassador Warns Iran's Nuclear Program Must Be Stopped Now

Israel vows to take decisive action against Iran as tensions escalate with missile attacks and nuclear threats.

Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, delivered a stark warning this week about the growing threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In an interview with CNN, Danon made it clear that Israel will not stand by while Iran’s Islamic regime edges closer to obtaining nuclear weapons, a position Israel has held for years but has now renewed with urgency after Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israeli cities.

Speaking with Kaitlan Collins on The Source, Danon emphasized that Israel’s response to Iran’s aggression would be swift and severe. "Iran will pay a price for what they did, attacking Israel," Danon declared, underscoring the gravity of the situation. He vividly described the terror that 10 million Israelis faced as they were forced to scramble for bomb shelters. “Imagine the entire population of New York City having to run for shelters in 10 minutes. They will pay for that.”

Israel, Danon affirmed, has the capability to strike anywhere in the Middle East, and there’s no shortage of military options at its disposal. While he stopped short of specifying what Israel’s response would entail, his comments left no doubt that Iran would soon feel the consequences of its actions. "Iran will feel our response very soon," he warned.

The escalation of hostilities comes as Iran continues to pursue nuclear capabilities a red line for Israel. Danon’s remarks highlighted Israel’s deep frustration with the Biden administration’s apparent opposition to Israel taking direct action against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “What do they want us to do?” Danon asked rhetorically. “Wait for Iran to have a nuclear capability, and then they can put that on the ballistic missiles, and launch nuclear ballistic missiles into Israel?”

Danon’s statement couldn’t be clearer: Iran’s nuclear ambitions are an existential threat, not just for Israel but for the broader Western world. Iran, already notorious for sponsoring terrorism across the region, is dangerously close to achieving nuclear breakout status. This year alone, reports estimate that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium has surged to 60%, leaving it just short of weapons-grade material. If action isn’t taken now, the consequences will be catastrophic, not just for Israel but for global security.

The ambassador underscored that Israel had learned from history’s darkest chapters, referencing the repeated threats made by radical leaders against the Jewish people. “When we see the intention, and we see the capabilities, and they’re throwing those ballistic missiles on our civilians, it makes one wonder, what should we do next?” Danon reflected, calling for decisive global action.

Iran’s regime, led by Ayatollah Khamenei, has repeatedly made its intentions to destroy Israel known. Coupling that with its missile attacks and its nuclear development, it’s become clear that Israel is facing a lethal combination of both capability and intent.

While the Biden administration and other Western nations have attempted to contain Iran diplomatically, Danon warned that there isn’t time to wait. “If it’s not going to be us doing it now, it should be the responsibility of the U.S. and other Western democracies to block Iran from achieving nuclear capability. Otherwise, it will be too late.”

As tensions escalate, it remains to be seen how the U.S. and its allies will respond to Israel’s call for urgent intervention. What is clear, however, is that Israel is prepared to act before it's too late.
