CIA Briefing Led to IRS Block on Hunter Biden Benefactor Probe, Whistleblower Alleges

Whistleblower reveals CIA involvement obstructed IRS probe into Hunter Biden's finances.

In a startling revelation, IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley claimed that a classified CIA briefing obstructed the investigation into Kevin Morris, a key benefactor of Hunter Biden. Shapley, who supervised the investigation into Hunter Biden's potential criminal violations, testified that Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf halted the pursuit of Morris as a witness following the briefing.

Shapley disclosed these details in testimony released by House Republicans. He alleged that in August 2021, the prosecution team was actively discussing witnesses when AUSA Wolf and DOJ Tax Attorney Jack Morgan returned from a classified meeting at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. According to Shapley, Wolf informed the team that the briefing, related to Morris, rendered him untouchable as a witness.

“During a recurring prosecution team conference call in or around late August 2021, AUSA Lesley Wolf told the team that she and DOJ Tax Attorney Jack Morgan had recently returned from the Central Intelligence Agency headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where they had been summoned to discuss Kevin Morris,” Shapley wrote.

Morris, an entertainment lawyer with significant ties to Hunter Biden, reportedly managed Biden’s stake in a Chinese private equity firm and covered at least $6.5 million in legal fees, child support, and living expenses for Biden. At the time of the CIA briefing, Hunter Biden was under investigation for allegedly failing to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes from 2014 through 2019.

“AUSA Wolf stated that they were provided a classified briefing in relation to Mr. Morris and as a result we could no longer pursue him as a witness,” Shapley continued. Despite investigators probing for more information, Wolf maintained that the details were classified and could only be shared in an unclassified format over an open line. She reiterated multiple times that the CIA meeting necessitated excluding Morris from the investigation.

Shapley further elaborated that on August 20, 2021, he requested a classified briefing from Wolf on the CIA information about Morris. Although DOJ National Security Division Attorney Matthew McKenzie was initially contacted to facilitate the meeting, it was never arranged. Shapley noted that McKenzie referenced a clearance level of T S – HCS-O, indicating a highly compartmentalized CIA-specific section.

Shapley believes that this clearance level was likely beyond the reach of DOJ Tax Attorney Morgan or AUSA Wolf, suggesting it might have been another obstacle to prevent investigators from accessing critical information. Despite multiple attempts to arrange the briefing, Shapley stated that Wolf ignored his requests, exemplifying further deviations from standard investigative procedures.

Shapley's testimony underscores the intricate and potentially obstructive layers of the Hunter Biden investigation, highlighting significant concerns about transparency and interference from high-level agencies.
