Iranians Slam Western Left for Ignoring Brutality of Islamic Regime

As Iran's brutal theocratic regime cracks down on its own people executing protesters, torturing dissidents, and silencing an entire nation many in the West are watching in silence. But not everyone is willing to ignore the truth. Iranian dissidents are now calling out the Western Left for its glaring hypocrisy and ideological cowardice.

“The hypocrisy is shocking,” said Masih Alinejad, a renowned Iranian activist and former political prisoner. “The silence of the Left and liberal in America, in Europe, is not an accidental silence; it is an ideological silence.”

Alinejad has been on the frontlines of a global campaign against the Iranian regime’s oppression especially its enforcement of compulsory hijab laws against women. She points out that the same Western voices that scream “oppression” at every conservative talking point suddenly go mute when faced with actual totalitarianism.

“When I launched a campaign against compulsory veiling… they kept quiet because they told us that hijab is a sign of resistance in America,” she said. “Now, when Hamas terrorists are attacking Israel, they call it resistance again. But when Iranians rise up against those same Islamist thugs, the Left says nothing.”

Another Iranian dissident on X didn’t hold back either “To the Jewish community and Republicans who stand with us: we see you. But to the Left, the Democrats, and the ‘human rights’ hypocrites who chose silence... You helped this regime survive. Your hypocrisy is written in our blood.”

These are not isolated voices. Across Iranian social media and activist communities, a growing frustration is boiling over with the Left’s selective outrage. Why are there no protests on college campuses for Iran’s women? No “emergency” demonstrations in Western cities for the 12,000+ Iranians murdered by the regime? Because their suffering doesn’t fit the narrative.

As one Iranian woman said in a viral message “Islamic Republic of Iran is not a victim of Western imperialism. It is a theocratic authoritarian regime that survives by exporting violence, funding Islamists, and crushing its own people… But the truth exposes the lie. Hamas fits their narrative. Iranian people don’t.”

And it’s not just oppression it’s total erasure. Iran is currently in a near-total internet blackout, with millions unable to access calls, messages, or online communication. The regime is silencing dissent by any means necessary. Yet from Western universities and leftist politicians: silence.

Let’s look at the facts:

• Iran’s regime has executed over 600 people in 2023 alone, according to human rights groups.

• During the 2022 protests sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, hundreds of women and children were gunned down in the streets.

• The Islamic Republic remains the largest state sponsor of terrorism, funding Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Islamist militias throughout the Middle East.

Still, no hashtags. No candlelight vigils. No UN emergency sessions.

Why? Because the Western Left doesn’t fight for human rights they fight for ideological loyalty. They’ll scream about censorship unless it's being done by Islamist regimes. They’ll cry for justice unless it challenges their pro-Hamas, anti-Israel worldview.

As that same Iranian woman concluded “You cannot claim moral superiority while excusing a regime that murders women for refusing hijab… uses foreign proxies as distractions… and silences 92 million people. That is not solidarity. That is ideological blindness.”

What we’re seeing is not just foreign oppression it’s the moral collapse of the Western Left. When faced with real tyranny, they cower. When told of mass executions, they look away. And when Islamist regimes crush people under the boot of Sharia law, they stay silent to protect a political slogan.

The Iranian people are not silent. They are being silenced. And every moment the Left refuses to speak up, they prove whose side they’re truly on.
