ICE Detains Illegal Immigrant Linked to Mother’s Death in DUI Incident

Another American family has been shattered and once again, it could have been prevented. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has finally apprehended German Adriano Llangari Inga, an illegal immigrant from Ecuador, who is accused of killing a Minnesota mother in a drunk driving crash while evading law enforcement for months.

The deadly crash occurred in August when Inga, who allegedly had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, plowed into the car of Victoria Eileen Harwell, killing her and severely injuring her teenage daughter and sister. He was arrested shortly after only to be released by local authorities who ignored ICE detainer requests. Twice.

Let that sink in: local Minnesota officials had this man in custody two separate times after the fatal crash, and both times, they let him walk. Why? Because the state’s far-left leadership refuses to honor ICE detainers, thanks to “sanctuary” policies that put the rights of criminal illegal aliens above the safety of American citizens.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office released Inga just three days after arresting him on an outstanding warrant in May without alerting ICE. The same thing happened last August, despite an ICE detainer being filed at the time of the crash.

ICE Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin didn’t hold back: “Despite Hennepin County refusing to honor this criminal illegal alien’s detainer TWICE, ICE officers tracked him down and removed this criminal from Minnesota’s streets.” She called out state leaders like Governor Tim Walz for failing to protect the public, adding, “Sanctuary politicians are fighting for criminal illegal aliens. President Trump and Secretary Noem are fighting for the victims of illegal alien crime, like Eileen Harwell.”

Here are the hard facts:

• 13 Americans are killed every day by drunk drivers, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

• In 2022 alone, ICE issued over 50,000 detainers for criminal aliens, many of which were ignored by sanctuary jurisdictions.

• Illegal immigrants make up about 7% of the U.S. population, but are responsible for 22% of federal murder convictions, per data from the U.S. Sentencing Commission.

White House Deputy Communications Director Alex Pfeiffer put it plainly: “An illegal immigrant drove drunk, killed an innocent mother, and is now on the run because Democrats didn’t do their most important job protect their constituents.”

This tragedy didn’t have to happen. Harwell’s family didn’t need to bury a loved one. And yet, because of the radical open-border policies pushed by Democrats and the refusal of blue-state sheriffs to work with ICE this nightmare became reality.

Let’s be clear: this is not about immigration. This is about lawlessness. It's about allowing dangerous individuals to slip through the cracks because politics have taken precedence over public safety. And it’s about time Americans demand better from their elected officials especially the ones who swore an oath to protect their communities.
