Illegal Alien Fires on Police Helicopter with Stolen Gun, Held on ICE Detainer

A 17-year-old illegal alien with a violent rap sheet is behind bars again this time for opening fire on a police helicopter with a stolen rifle and he’s finally facing federal action.

Nelson Garcia-Arevalo, already on probation for shooting at law enforcement, was arrested again after allegedly using a stolen car to rob a gun store, then firing at a Metro Nashville Police Department chopper from the vehicle. Authorities say he stole a rifle and four handguns during the heist and was seen on police video fleeing with two other teens, both 15, who now face multiple charges including vehicle theft and unlawful gun possession.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that ICE has filed a detainer to take custody of Garcia-Arevalo. The teen is currently being held on two felony charges of reckless endangerment. His country of origin remains unknown, but what’s crystal clear is that he never should’ve been here in the first place.

What’s worse? This isn’t his first time endangering law enforcement:

• Garcia-Arevalo was already on probation for firing at an undercover officer and another police helicopter.

• He was previously convicted of felony aggravated assault.

• Yet, despite a violent criminal record, he remained on U.S. soil protected by a broken immigration system and an administration too afraid to enforce the law.

The arrest comes as Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, a Democrat, continues to wage a political war against ICE and federal immigration enforcement. Following a recent ICE operation that led to the arrest of 196 illegal aliens nearly half with criminal records O’Connell pledged to launch the “Belonging Fund” to support illegal aliens financially.

Yes, while illegals are robbing gun stores and shooting at cops, Nashville’s mayor is handing them tax-funded lifelines.

Among those arrested in the ICE raids:

• 95 had prior criminal convictions or pending charges

• Sex offenders, rapists, gang members, and drug traffickers were all taken into custody

• Suspected members of MS-13 and Tren de Aragua were included

Now, Republican lawmakers are pushing back. The House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees have launched formal investigations into Mayor O’Connell, demanding internal communications and documents related to his handling of ICE operations and his disturbing executive order requiring all city employee interactions with ICE to be reported to his office.

Things reached a boiling point after the mayor’s office publicly released the names of ICE agents, effectively doxxing federal law enforcement personnel in what some officials believe was a deliberate attempt to expose agents to gang retaliation.

“There’s zero chance it was a mistake and there will be repercussions,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “He’s essentially handing over intelligence to these criminal gangs.”

It’s bad enough that illegals with criminal records are being allowed to roam the streets. But when elected officials actively obstruct federal law enforcement and put American lives at risk, it’s no longer just policy failure it’s willful betrayal.

This is exactly why we need a strong border, real immigration enforcement, and leadership that defends American citizens not criminal invaders.
