Ilhan Omar Dodges Questions on DC Terror Attack That Killed Israeli Diplomats

While the FBI confirms an anti-Semitic terror attack in the capital, Rep. Omar walks away instead of condemning the hate.

As the nation reels from a deadly anti-Semitic terror attack in Washington, D.C., Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar once again found herself at the center of controversy and this time, she responded by walking away.

Two Israeli embassy staffers, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were murdered outside the Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday evening. The shooter, Elias Rodriguez, a far-left extremist, was seen shouting “Free Palestine” after killing the young couple in cold blood. FBI Director Kash Patel officially classified the attack as terrorism on Thursday morning.

Yet when a reporter approached Rep. Omar on Capitol Hill to ask for her reaction, the congresswoman refused to comment.

“I’m going to go for now,” Omar said, sidestepping the question as she walked away.

Silence speaks volumes, and in Omar’s case, it has become a pattern.

Only after public backlash did Omar offer a perfunctory statement on X:

“I am appalled by the deadly shooting at the Capital Jewish Museum last night. Holding the victims, their families, and loved ones in my thoughts and prayers. Violence should have no place in our country.”

Too little, too late and far too hollow to be taken seriously.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called out Omar’s evasive behavior and the broader issue festering within the Democratic Party:

“It’s despicable… We’ve seen a rise in antisemitic protests, pro-Hamas protests, and terrorist sympathizers. The Democratic Party has turned a blind eye and in some cases embraced such antisemitic illegal behavior.”

She’s right. While Jewish communities face escalating threats, elected Democrats like Omar have repeatedly excused, downplayed, or outright ignored anti-Israel violence and the rising tide of Jew-hatred in the West.

This is hardly Omar’s first controversy involving terrorism and Israel:

  • In 2021, she sparked outrage by equating the U.S. and Israel with Hamas and the Taliban, prompting rebukes even from fellow Democrats like then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

  • In 2019, she infamously minimized the 9/11 terror attacks, referring to the murder of 3,000 Americans as “some people did something.”

  • She also falsely claimed that CAIR was founded “after 9/11,” when it was actually established in 1994.

These aren’t just “slip-ups.” They form a pattern of dangerous rhetoric that emboldens radicals and alienates Jewish Americans. And now, an Israeli Christian IDF veteran and a young Jewish diplomat from Kansas are dead executed on American soil while Omar shrugs and walks away.

This wasn’t just an attack on two innocent people. It was a symbolic assault on diplomacy, peace, and the alliance between the U.S. and Israel. And yet, one of the most visible members of Congress a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, no less can’t muster the decency to confront it head-on.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar put it plainly:

“This is the direct result of toxic anti-Semitic incitement… I have been worried for months that something like this would happen. And it did.”

Omar’s failure to forcefully condemn this act of terror isn’t just political cowardice it’s an indictment of the progressive movement’s moral rot, where identity politics trumps universal values and radical ideologies eclipse human decency.

There was a time when bipartisan outrage would follow an assassination of foreign diplomats on U.S. soil. Now? One side sends “thoughts and prayers” after being cornered, and moves on.
