Ilhan Omar Warns of Trump Supporter Violence While Downplaying Somali Fraud Scandal

When pressed about a massive multi-billion dollar fraud scandal connected to Somali immigrants in Minnesota, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) didn’t condemn the criminals. Instead, she warned Americans that Trump supporters might attack Somalis a deflection that’s as dishonest as it is dangerous.

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Omar brushed aside the alarming abuse of taxpayer dollars tied to COVID-era programs in her home state a scandal that has reportedly funneled money not just into fraud rings, but potentially even to Al-Shabaab terrorists, according to City Journal. But rather than address this outrage, Omar pivoted to playing the victim.

“There is fear for Somalis… that some of these people [Trump supporters] might attack and harm them,” she claimed.

Her comments came in response to President Trump’s blunt reaction to the scandal earlier this week. Citing credible data, Trump said that Somali migrants have “ripped off” the state of Minnesota and contribute “nothing” to the U.S., pointing to a staggering 88% welfare rate among Somali immigrants.

“I don’t want them in our country,” Trump said. “We have to rebuild our country… if we keep taking in garbage, we’re going the wrong way.

The truth is, Trump is saying what millions of Americans are thinking: Why are we importing populations that abuse the system, drain resources, and refuse to assimilate all while elected officials like Omar defend them and smear anyone who speaks up?

Instead of acknowledging the fraud or offering support for stricter oversight, Omar defaulted to her typical strategy cry racism, accuse Trump of Islamophobia, and stir up baseless fears about his supporters.

Let’s be clear:

• The Minnesota fraud scheme stole billions of taxpayer dollars meant for pandemic relief.

• Dozens of suspects have already been charged, many of whom are linked to the Somali community that Omar has spent years defending and shielding from criticism.

• Some funds may have been sent overseas to terrorist groups.

And yet, when asked about this on national TV, Omar chalked it up to a “lack of guardrails” and shifted the conversation to Trump’s rhetoric.

Worse still, she openly refused to condemn the criminals. This is the same congresswoman who, just weeks ago, threatened Americans who collaborate with the Trump administration, using language that was dangerously close to incitement.

It’s not Trump or his supporters the country should be afraid of it’s elected officials like Ilhan Omar, who ignore criminality, play identity politics, and slander the very people trying to protect American values.

This scandal is exactly why we need leadership that won’t cower to political correctness. President Trump is unafraid to speak the truth, and millions of Americans are tired of being silenced by the Left’s weaponized cries of “racism” every time someone dares to say what’s obvious.

Ilhan Omar isn’t protecting her community she’s protecting criminals. And she’s doing it at your expense.
