IDF Reveals Hezbollah Bunker Hiding Over $500 Million in Cash and Gold

Israeli military declassifies location of Hezbollah's hidden fortune, stashed beneath a Lebanese hospital.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have declassified information revealing that Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed terrorist group, is hiding over $500 million in cash and gold in a secret bunker beneath a hospital in Lebanon. In a public statement, IDF spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari disclosed that the funds are stashed under the al-Sahel hospital, stored in a bunker once used by Hezbollah’s former leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

According to Hagari, Hezbollah’s bunker holds half a billion dollars in assets that could have been used to aid Lebanon’s struggling economy. Instead, the funds were channeled to support Hezbollah’s terrorist activities. “That money could have been used to rehabilitate Lebanon, but it went to rehabilitate Hezbollah,” Hagari remarked in a video message.

The IDF has no plans to target the bunker due to its deliberate placement beneath a hospital, a move that Hezbollah likely intended to shield its financial resources. Despite this, the IDF’s decision to declassify the information appears to be a calculated effort to expose Hezbollah’s corruption and international criminal activities.

Hezbollah’s financial network spans multiple countries and relies heavily on support from Iran, with additional funding derived from factories in Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and Turkey. The group also engages in global criminal enterprises, particularly in Africa and Latin America. A 2022 Europol report confirmed Hezbollah's involvement in drug smuggling, arms trafficking, and professional money laundering operations throughout the European Union.

In response to the IDF’s revelations, Hezbollah propagandists rushed to the al-Sahel hospital to show footage of medical equipment and hospital beds, claiming there was no money stored at the site. However, the IDF provided detailed directions for those interested in finding the bunker. On Tuesday, IDF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani gave instructions on how to locate the entrance: "One of the entrances to the bunker, containing more than half a billion dollars in gold and dollars, is on the eastern side of the basement of the Al-Ahmedi building, located south of the Al-Sahel hospital. The basement is on the second floor down (level -2)."

Shoshani cautioned that Hezbollah likely concealed the entrance to the bunker, making it difficult to locate. Nevertheless, the declassification is part of Israel’s broader campaign to expose Hezbollah’s tactics and undermine its financial base.
