IDF Releases Footage of Raid on Underground Iranian Missile Factory in Syria
Israeli commandos destroy Iranian missile production site in a bold operation near Lebanon.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have declassified footage of a daring raid carried out on September 8, 2024, deep inside Syrian territory, targeting an underground Iranian missile factory. The mission, executed by the Israeli Air Force’s (IAF) Shaldag Unit, was the culmination of years of intelligence gathering and surveillance aimed at dismantling Iran’s growing weapons supply to terrorist proxies on Israel’s northern border.
According to the IDF, the commandos launched the raid using helicopters, fighter jets, naval vessels, and intelligence aircraft to provide support. The missile manufacturing plant, located in western Syria near Lebanon, was a key component of Iran’s efforts to arm Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations.
During the operation, IDF forces seized critical missile production machinery, including a planetary mixer used to create precision-guided missiles, along with weapons and intelligence documents. After securing the intelligence, the soldiers destroyed the facility and returned safely to Israeli territory.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the operation, calling it a bold and successful strike against Iran’s expanding influence.
The underground factory, built inside a mountain, had been monitored by Israeli intelligence for over five years. Iran began constructing the facility in 2018, in collaboration with Hezbollah and the Syrian government, after Israel destroyed most of Iran’s above-ground missile infrastructure in Syria.
The facility was a major weapons hub, producing long-range rockets and precision-guided missiles.
Syrian guards were caught off guard and eliminated in the surprise attack.
The IAF launched an intense bombing campaign to prevent Syrian reinforcements from interfering with the mission.
The U.S. was informed in advance and did not oppose the operation.
This marks Israel’s first known ground operation in Syria in years, and military experts suggest it could foreshadow a similar strategy against Iran’s nuclear facilities. With Iran racing toward nuclear capability, largely due to Biden’s weak foreign policy, some believe Israel may have no choice but to act preemptively just as it did with this missile facility.
Under President Trump, Iran’s regional ambitions were severely restricted through crippling sanctions and decisive military deterrence. But under Biden’s failed leadership, Iran has been allowed to rebuild its weapons programs and fund terrorist proxies.
This successful IDF operation sends a clear message: Israel will not hesitate to strike Iranian targets, no matter where they are hidden.
