ICE Raids MS-13 Stronghold in LA as Mayor Bass Joins Protesters
Trump crackdown faces pushback from city leadership as federal agents confront cartel havens in sanctuary cities.

In a scene that looked more like a battlefield than a park, dozens of ICE agents backed by military personnel raided Los Angeles’ MacArthur Park early Monday morning targeting what authorities say is an MS-13 stronghold.
But instead of supporting federal law enforcement, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass showed up to obstruct it.
“They need to leave and they need to leave right now,” Bass shouted, standing among radical protesters who tried to disrupt the operation. One protester reportedly slashed the tires of an armored vehicle, others hurled objects at officers, and still more chanted anti-law enforcement slogans as a DHS helicopter hovered overhead.
The raid was a coordinated effort to detain known gang members tied to MS-13, one of the most violent criminal organizations in the Western Hemisphere. Agents on horseback, federal officers, and DHS support all converged on the park, executing an operation that sources say had been in planning for weeks.
MacArthur Park has long been a notorious gathering point for gang activity, but you wouldn’t know it from Mayor Bass’s response. Within minutes of the operation kicking off, she posted on X, condemning the raid “Minutes before, there were more than 20 kids playing then, the MILITARY comes through… Absolutely outrageous.”
Outrageous? What’s outrageous is the mayor of a major U.S. city trying to shield violent gang members from arrest.
Bass even got on the phone with Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino, demanding the agents leave the area. Bovino’s response was perfect:
“I don’t work for Karen Bass. Better get used to us now, cause this is going to be normal very soon. We will go anywhere, anytime we want in Los Angeles.”
Here’s the reality:
MS-13 members have used MacArthur Park as a safe zone, thanks to soft-on-crime, sanctuary city policies.
LA’s own residents have suffered under rising gang violence, drug trafficking, and intimidation.
ICE’s presence is not a military occupation it’s law enforcement finally doing its job.
President Donald Trump recently filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles over its sanctuary city policies, arguing that they violate the Constitution’s supremacy clause. And now, with federal agents making good on their promise to clean up cartel-controlled areas, leftist officials like Bass are scrambling to protect their political allies not the public.
This isn’t just about immigration. It’s about law, order, and the safety of American communities.
