ICE Denies Ilhan Omar’s Claim Her Son Was Pulled Over and Pressed for Citizenship

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is once again making headlines and not for the right reasons. Over the weekend, Omar claimed her son was stopped by federal immigration agents while running errands in Minnesota and was forced to prove his U.S. citizenship. But now, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has flatly denied the incident ever happened, calling it an irresponsible and dangerous lie.

“ICE has absolutely zero record of its officers or agents pulling over Congresswoman Omar’s son,” said Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons. “It speaks volumes that Congresswoman Omar is leveling this accusation with absolutely zero proof.”

According to Omar, the alleged stop occurred near a Target store in the Twin Cities area. She told a local CBS affiliate that her son was racially profiled, pulled over by ICE agents, and asked to produce a U.S. passport. After showing his documentation, she claimed, he was “let go.”

But ICE says the encounter never happened. Not only does the agency have no record of any such stop, but officials are also calling out the congresswoman for endangering agents’ lives by spreading a false narrative.

“This is a ridiculous effort to demonize federal law enforcement,” Lyons added, noting that ICE has seen a 1,150% increase in assaults on personnel and an 8,000% increase in death threats spikes he attributes directly to rhetoric like Omar’s.

Still, Omar is doubling down. Her office responded by accusing ICE of lying and operating as a "rogue agency," even suggesting the agency could be “disappearing people” and failing to keep proper records. A spokesperson for Omar said the congresswoman “stands by her account.”

Let’s be clear about what’s happening here:

• A sitting U.S. congresswoman is accusing federal agents of racial profiling her son with no evidence, no names, and no documentation.

• ICE, an agency already under fire from the far-left, has now been falsely accused of an incident that never occurred, during a week when its agents are already under real-world threat.

• Omar is lashing out at ICE while also facing scrutiny over a massive fraud scandal involving Minnesota’s Somali community a scandal tied to the alleged funneling of millions in taxpayer dollars to foreign terrorist organizations, including Al-Shabaab.

It’s no coincidence this accusation comes amid increasing pressure on Omar and her allies. President Trump, speaking in Pennsylvania last week, called her “garbage” while highlighting long-standing questions about her past marriages, alleged immigration fraud, and deep ties to communities under federal investigation.

Omar, predictably, played the victim card, calling Trump “creepy” and “obsessed” with her ethnicity deflecting from the fact that her political circle in Minnesota is facing serious corruption investigations, including possible links to Islamic terror groups.

Meanwhile, instead of answering tough questions about her past including the unresolved suspicion that she may have married her brother to game the immigration system Omar is making explosive claims against law enforcement without offering a shred of proof.

Her timeline is already under scrutiny:

• Omar reportedly married Ahmed Elmi, a British citizen, in 2009 while still tied to her first husband, Ahmed Hirsi.

• She reunited with Hirsi in 2012, divorced Elmi in 2017, and finally married Hirsi legally in 2018 before separating again.

• She is now married to political strategist Tim Mynett a man whose firm received over $2.7 million in campaign funds during her reelection bid.

And yet, Omar continues to lecture the rest of the country about “accountability” and “disinformation.”

This latest stunt accusing ICE of harassing her son reeks of distraction politics. With real investigations circling and fraud scandals deepening, Omar is reaching for the oldest trick in the book: make herself the victim and cast law enforcement as the villain.

But Americans are waking up. The truth matters. And so does the safety of those tasked with defending our borders and enforcing the law.
