Fox News Faces Lawsuit from Hunter Biden Over Controversial Miniseries
Legal Battle Heats Up Over Fox Nation's "The Trial of Hunter Biden".
Hunter Biden has launched a lawsuit against Fox News, but the conservative media giant isn't backing down. The president’s son sued the network on Monday over a 2022 miniseries that aired on Fox Nation, titled “The Trial of Hunter Biden.” The series presented evidence of Biden's alleged wrongdoings in a mock trial format, featuring celebrity Judge Joe Brown.
Fox News responded swiftly, defending the series as a “mock trial” aimed at illustrating what a real trial could look like. The show detailed numerous reportedly suspicious business partnerships between Hunter Biden and foreign companies, implicating his father, President Joe Biden.
Hunter Biden and his legal team argue that the series presented false evidence and was designed to "harass, annoy, alarm, and humiliate him, and tarnish his reputation." They claim the show was part of broader "politically motivated attacks against the President and his family."
The lawsuit alleges that Fox News engaged in the “unlawful commercial exploitation of Mr. Biden’s image, name, and likeness.” However, Fox News fired back, calling the lawsuit "devoid of merit" and "politically motivated."
Fox News stated, “The core complaint stems from a 2022 streaming program that Mr. Biden did not complain about until sending a letter in late April 2024. The program was removed within days of the letter, in an abundance of caution, but Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon.”
The network emphasized its First Amendment rights, asserting its right to broadcast newsworthy events. “Consistent with the First Amendment, FOX News has accurately covered the newsworthy events of Mr. Biden’s own making, and we look forward to vindicating our rights in court,” a Fox News representative stated.
This legal clash adds to Hunter Biden's mounting legal troubles. Just last month, he was found guilty of three counts related to the illegal purchase of a firearm while under the influence of drugs. He is set to face trial again in September on additional charges related to tax crimes.
The ongoing saga underscores the intense scrutiny on Hunter Biden and the broader political implications for his father’s administration. As both sides prepare for a legal showdown, the stakes are high, not only for Hunter Biden but also for the broader narrative surrounding the Biden family.
