Hung Cao Dominates Debate, Slams Illegal Immigration and Drag Queen Navy Recruitment

Virginia Senate candidate Hung Cao, a retired Navy captain, showed why he’s a rising star during a fiery debate with incumbent Democrat Tim Kaine. Cao, a Republican and a no-nonsense military veteran, didn’t hold back when it came to attacking Kaine’s record, tackling illegal immigration, and criticizing the disturbing direction of U.S. military recruitment.

One of Cao’s most compelling moments came when he shared his own story as the child of Vietnamese immigrants. “When Vietnam fell, we had nowhere to go, and America brought us in. My parents waited seven years we all did, for seven years to get our citizenship,” Cao explained passionately. He contrasted his family’s lawful pursuit of the American Dream with today’s rampant illegal immigration. “Here’s my thing to anybody who wants to come here don’t ask for the American dream if you’re not willing to follow American laws and embrace American culture,” he added. His message was clear: those entering the country illegally, particularly violent criminals, need to leave.

Cao’s stance aligns with the increasing frustration many Americans feel about the Biden administration’s failure to secure the southern border. Over 2 million illegal immigrants crossed into the U.S. in 2022 alone, a number that shatters any sense of national security. Cao’s insistence on legal immigration echoes the sentiment of countless citizens who believe that American sovereignty must be respected, not violated.

The Republican candidate also took aim at the U.S. Navy’s recruitment tactics, which recently drew headlines for using a drag queen in a promotional campaign. “When you’re using a drag queen to recruit for the Navy, that’s not the people we want,” Cao declared, pulling no punches. “We need alpha males and alpha females who are going to rip out their own guts, eat them, and ask for seconds. Those are the young men and women who are going to win wars.” His words reflected a broader concern that the military under Biden’s leadership is prioritizing political correctness over combat readiness.

Cao’s military experience is no small detail. Commissioned from the U.S. Naval Academy, Cao served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Somalia, putting his life on the line for the country. His criticism of the Navy’s bizarre recruitment choices carries extra weight, as it comes from someone who knows firsthand what it takes to defend America.

But it wasn’t just military issues on which Cao hammered Kaine. He pointed out Kaine’s dismal record in the Senate, noting, “Of the 227 bills that Senator Kaine has proposed, only three of them made it through. That’s a 99% failure rate.” This remark hit hard, especially as Americans grow increasingly frustrated with Washington’s inability to accomplish anything meaningful.

Kaine, of course, attempted to brush off the criticism, but Cao’s witty retort left the audience laughing. “There’s two truths in the world, okay? Never walk into a Target store wearing a red shirt and never go against an Asian when it comes to math. Trust me,” Cao quipped, landing one of the debate’s standout lines.

With this debate, Hung Cao has proven he’s more than ready to take on Tim Kaine and the Democratic establishment in Virginia. His unapologetic stance on border security and military reform, combined with his sharp criticisms of Kaine’s failures, will resonate with voters who are fed up with the direction the country is heading under Democratic leadership.

The 2024 Senate race in Virginia just got a lot more interesting, and Cao’s momentum is only building.
