Mike Huckabee Officially Begins Role as U.S. Ambassador to Israel

A longtime defender of Israel, Huckabee calls his appointment a mission from God as he strengthens ties in a turbulent region.

Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas and longtime friend of Israel, officially began his tenure as U.S. Ambassador to Israel this week, calling the role a "calling from God Himself." The announcement and credential ceremony took place in Jerusalem with Israeli President Isaac Herzog.

Fighting back tears, Huckabee recounted how President Donald Trump personally appointed him just days after the 2024 election. “You don’t say no to him,” Huckabee joked, before clarifying that the appointment felt like more than a presidential duty it was a divine mission.

As a devout Evangelical Christian, Huckabee’s affection for Israel is deeply rooted in his faith. He has visited the country over 100 times and has long supported a strong U.S.-Israel alliance grounded in mutual defense, economic partnership, and biblical history.

  • At the Western Wall, Huckabee placed a note from Trump reading, “For peace in Israel,” continuing a tradition of American solidarity with the Jewish state.

  • In remarks, Huckabee emphasized that Israel is not just a strategic ally, but a moral one, contributing to the U.S. in intelligence, technology, and agriculture.

The Senate confirmed Huckabee in a 53–46 vote, largely along party lines, with the notable exception of Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) one of the few Democrats to stand unapologetically with Israel since the October 7 Hamas massacre.

During his confirmation hearing, Huckabee didn't mince words: “Hamas is not a government. It’s a terrorist organization.” He condemned their brutality and emphasized that peace is impossible with a partner that denies Israel’s right to exist.

  • Huckabee pointed out that Hamas has now held hostages longer than the 1979 Iran hostage crisis.

  • He cited the Palestinian Authority's “pay-for-slay” program, where terrorists’ families receive stipends, as a fundamental obstacle to peace.

  • “The two-state solution is a fantasy if one of those states is built on the foundation of Jew-hatred, indoctrination, and terrorism,” he said.

From visits to terror-struck Kibbutz Kfar Aza to advocacy for Israel’s historical claim to Judea and Samaria, Huckabee’s words and actions have made clear that he will not be a passive diplomat. He is a fierce advocate, unafraid to challenge the moral relativism that too often infects global discourse about the Middle East.

“If we don’t stand with Israel, we stand for chaos,” he declared. And he’s right.

As Hamas supporters parade through Western capitals and global elites call for Israel to “show restraint,” America now sends a clear message by appointing someone who understands good from evil and won’t apologize for standing with the civilized world.
