House Passes Nationwide Ban on Child Transgender Procedures

In a bold stand for common sense and the protection of vulnerable children, the House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday banning transgender medical procedures for minors nationwide. The legislation marks a historic moment in the fight against radical gender ideology and the exploitation of kids by a powerful, profit-driven medical establishment.

The bill, officially titled the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, was introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and passed 216-211. It would make it a federal crime for any doctor to perform so-called “gender-affirming” surgeries or to prescribe puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors. Violators could face up to 10 years in prison or steep fines.

“Most Americans agree that kids just need to grow up before they do anything radical,” Greene said from the House floor. “Today, the House is delivering on what the American people voted for.”

She’s absolutely right. The majority of Americans oppose permanently altering children’s bodies under the guise of “gender-affirming care.” This bill reflects that reality.

• The bill prohibits genital surgeries and mastectomies on minors who identify as transgender.

• It bans puberty blockers, which have been linked to harmful effects on bone development and long-term health risks.

• It also blocks the prescription of cross-sex hormones like estrogen for boys and testosterone for girls, which can permanently impair fertility and sexual function.

While 213 Republicans supported the bill, four broke ranks Reps. Gabe Evans (CO), Brian Fitzpatrick (PA), Mike Kennedy (UT), and Mike Lawler (NY). Still, three brave Democrats Henry Cuellar, Donald Davis, and Vicente Gonzalez voted with Republicans, showing that not all on the Left have abandoned reason and moral responsibility.

More than three dozen GOP lawmakers co-sponsored the bill, signaling widespread Republican support for putting an end to dangerous gender procedures on kids. The measure now moves to the Senate, where a similar proposal has been introduced by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and backed by President Trump.

“Republicans showed today that they are as committed to protecting children as Democrats are to disfiguring them,” said Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project.

That’s not political hyperbole it’s the truth. What we’re witnessing is a clash between those who believe children deserve time, safety, and stability, and those who are willing to permanently mutilate and medicate minors in pursuit of a radical agenda. The so-called “gender-affirming care” industry is a multi-billion-dollar machine, and children are its fuel.

Under the Biden administration and its allies, federal health agencies have not only embraced these procedures but have aggressively promoted them even as growing numbers of European countries are backing away from the very same practices due to lack of evidence and increasing harm.

The tide is turning. Over two dozen states have already passed laws banning transgender procedures for minors, with more legislation on the way. Now, Congress is stepping in to ensure every child in America is protected regardless of what state they live in.

It’s time to draw a line: Children are not experiments. They are not social projects. They are not political pawns.
