Hollywood Elites Demand Release of Convicted Palestinian Terror Leader

In a move that defies both basic morality and historical fact, over 200 celebrities including Sting, Paul Simon, Richard Branson, Mark Ruffalo, Margaret Atwood, and Ian McKellen have signed an open letter calling for the release of Palestinian terror chief Marwan Barghouti, a convicted murderer and mastermind behind some of the bloodiest attacks of the Second Intifada.

The statement, which pleads for the release of Barghouti from Israeli prison, accuses Israel of “violent mistreatment” and a denial of legal rights. What it conveniently leaves out? Barghouti’s conviction on five counts of murder, his leadership of Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, and his orchestration of attacks that killed over 1,000 Israelis, most of them innocent civilians.

This is not a man imprisoned for his political beliefs. He is a terrorist commander who oversaw and funded bombings, shootings, and suicide attacks on Jewish civilians including women, children, and the elderly.

Here’s what Hollywood doesn’t want you to remember:

1. Barghouti was found guilty of involvement in:

   • The 2001 murder of a Greek monk

   • A 2002 terror attack on a Tel Aviv restaurant where three civilians were murdered

   • A car bombing in Jerusalem

   • A 2002 shooting at a gas station

2. During the Second Intifada, which Barghouti helped lead, 764 of the 1,010 Israeli victims were civilians targeted while dining, praying, or commuting.

3. Among the massacres he helped orchestrate:

   • 21 teens murdered at the Dolphinarium Discotheque

   • 15 people, including six children, blown up at a Sbarro’s Pizza

   • 30 Israelis slaughtered at a Passover celebration in Netanya

   • 11 more killed in a bombing at Café Moment in Jerusalem

Yet celebrities detached from reality and intoxicated by their own activism are now demanding the release of the man who coordinated the terror budgets and approved payments to terrorists under orders from Yasser Arafat.

Israeli Brigadier-General Yossi Kuperwasser has noted Barghouti’s central role in funding and directing terror during those years, calling him “the leader of the umbrella organization of the Islamic and national forces” the very coordination hub for murderous acts carried out by groups like Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.

Let’s call it what it is: the celebrity left has aligned itself with terrorism. This is not a peaceful prisoner they’re defending this is a man who waged war on civilians and was captured, tried, and convicted in a court of law with full legal rights and due process. His victims never got the same.

This grotesque open letter is just the latest example of a Hollywood culture that glorifies anti-Israel radicals, rewrites history, and cloaks terrorist sympathies in the language of "human rights." It’s also a chilling reminder of just how out of touch elites have become with the moral clarity that defines right from wrong.

When celebrities ask for leniency for a mass murderer, they’re not promoting peace they're spitting on the graves of the victims.
