Hochul’s Cruel Health Insurance Cuts Leave Cancer Patient Without Chemo

New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s war on correctional officers has reached a new level of cruelty cutting off health insurance for thousands of officers and their families, including a woman battling a rare terminal illness who was denied her chemotherapy treatment last week.

Hochul’s decision to strip health coverage comes in response to an ongoing strike, despite the fact that many affected officers are not actively participating. One such case is Rachel, the wife of an Attica Correctional Facility officer, who was already on approved family and medical leave to care for his wife following her devastating diagnosis.

“I get IV infusion therapy in the home a couple of days a month, I also have to get chemo,” Rachel explained. “I’m also on several different daily medications.”

The governor has gone so far as to deploy 7,000 National Guard troops to replace correctional officers, yet reports indicate that conditions inside these facilities are deteriorating rapidly. Since the strike began, at least seven deaths have been reported inside state prisons, raising serious concerns about safety for both guards and inmates.

For Hochul, this isn’t about governance it’s about political revenge. Instead of addressing officers’ legitimate concerns about safety and inhumane working conditions, she’s choosing to punish hardworking men and women, and even their sick loved ones, to push her radical agenda.
