Israeli Hostage Forced by Hamas to Dig His Own Grave

Starved, emaciated, and humiliated, Evyatar David is paraded by terrorists in scenes echoing the Holocaust.

A newly released propaganda video from the terrorist group Hamas shows an Israeli hostage starved, emaciated, and barely able to stand being forced to dig his own grave.

The five-minute clip, released to push the terror group’s narrative, features Evyatar David, an Israeli civilian abducted by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, massacre. Held underground in Gaza for over 660 days, David appears gaunt, weak, and visibly starving. The setting is a dimly lit tunnel, barely high enough for him to stand, where he’s seen scratching off dates on a crude calendar and digging what he believes is his own final resting place.

“I haven’t eaten for a few days in a row,” David says. “This can is for two days… so that I don’t die,” he adds, holding a small tin of beans.

“This is the grave I think I’m going to be buried in. Time is running out.”

David’s family released a heart-wrenching statement, calling the video “one of the most horrifying acts the world has seen.”

“We are forced to witness our beloved son and brother, Evyatar David, deliberately and cynically starved in Hamas’s tunnels in Gaza a living skeleton, buried alive.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the video as another example of Hamas’s barbarity “Hamas terrorists deliberately starve our hostages, documenting them in a cynical, humiliating, and malicious manner.”

U.S. lawmakers are also sounding the alarm:

  • Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL): “Iran-backed Hamas terrorists have held innocent people hostage, starving them for 666 days… Every day that goes by is a risk to their lives. We cannot stop until every hostage is home and Hamas is destroyed.”

  • Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY): “This is vile. Where are all those demanding Israel end this war now? The only entity for the devastation inflicted upon innocent Israelis and Palestinians is Hamas. Period. Full stop.”

What makes this video even more chilling is how it mirrors the atrocities of the Nazi Holocaust, when Jews were often forced to dig their own graves before being executed. According to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum “If a mass grave had not already been dug, the victims were forced to dig one… Friends and families often had to watch their loved ones die before them.”

Now, nearly 80 years later, history is repeating itself at the hands of Iran-backed jihadists, not in Europe, but in the tunnels of Gaza.

And yet, Western leaders remain shamefully quiet. Where is the global outrage? Where are the U.N. condemnations, the human rights reports, the university protests?

Instead, we see pressure to end Israel’s defensive operations, to "de-escalate," to negotiate with the very terrorists who film starving Jews digging their own graves for the world to see.

This video should be a wake-up call.

There is no peace to be made with evil. There is no moral equivalence. Hamas must be eradicated, and the hostages must be brought home before it's too late.
