Hakeem Jeffries Mocks Dr. Oz, Gets Embarrassed by the Facts

Democrat leader dismisses Trump official as a “joke,” ignores real healthcare concerns, and gets torched with Oz’s elite credentials.

In another display of arrogant deflection and Democrat double standards, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries made headlines not for leadership or policy, but for mocking Dr. Mehmet Oz, the newly appointed Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under President Donald Trump.

When a Fox Business reporter mentioned Dr. Oz in a serious question about phantom enrollees in Obamacare Americans enrolled in plans they don’t use, often fraudulently Jeffries responded with smug laughter and insults.

“Who?” Jeffries said, grinning as the press corps chuckled. “Nobody who’s serious in this country takes Dr. Oz seriously.”

That might’ve played well with the D.C. cocktail circuit, but outside the Beltway, Americans still care about the truth and the facts about Dr. Oz are undeniable.

John Roberts of Fox News immediately hit back with a brutal reality check:

“Just a quick fact check for the minority leader,” he wrote on X. “Mehmet Oz: Harvard undergrad. MD from UPenn. MBA from Wharton. Renowned heart surgeon at Columbia. Oz performed over 100 heart surgeries a year. Unqualified? Hardly.”

Oz’s resume isn’t just impressive it’s elite by any standard.

  • Harvard graduate

  • Joint MD/MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton School

  • Board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon

  • Professor and Vice Chair at Columbia University’s Cardiovascular Institute

  • Over 100 successful heart surgeries annually

But because Dr. Oz serves in Trump’s administration, Jeffries wants Americans to believe he’s a “rando” and a “joke.”

This wasn’t just an unprovoked smear against a qualified professional. It was a deliberate distraction from a serious issue: the millions of phantom Obamacare enrollees, many of whom cost taxpayers billions through fraudulent subsidies and inflated enrollment numbers.

Instead of addressing the substance of the question, Jeffries resorted to mockery a classic move from a political class that’s more interested in protecting the narrative than solving real problems.

And it’s not the first time Democrats have brushed off the truth when it gets uncomfortable.

  • In 2023, Medicare waste and fraud exceeded $50 billion, according to CMS’s own data.

  • Obamacare enrollment inflation has become a growing concern among watchdogs, especially as Medicaid spending exploded post-pandemic.

  • Dr. Oz’s comments about the issue align with efforts to audit and clean up a bloated system rife with abuse.

But rather than engage on policy, Jeffries opted for personal attacks the same tired playbook Democrats have used against every Trump official with a backbone.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has yet to answer for skyrocketing premiums, shrinking provider networks, and the $24,000 average cost for employer-provided family health coverage in 2024.

So who should Americans take seriously a media-credentialed, Ivy League-trained heart surgeon with decades of experience in medicine and administration? Or a politician who laughs off real questions because they come from the wrong side of the aisle?
