Harriet Hageman Launches Senate Run After Defeating Liz Cheney

Trump-endorsed Wyoming firebrand aims to bring America First fight to the Senate as Lummis steps down.

Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY), the constitutional conservative who demolished Liz Cheney in one of 2022’s most high-profile primaries, is officially running for the U.S. Senate.

Hageman announced her campaign Tuesday to succeed Sen. Cynthia Lummis, who is stepping down after one term. The Wyoming congresswoman emphasized that her campaign is about preserving Wyoming’s values, securing the nation’s future, and continuing the fight alongside President Donald Trump.

“This fight is about making sure the next century sees the advancements of the last, while protecting our culture and our way of life,” Hageman said in her announcement video, which also featured her 102-year-old mother.

It was Hageman’s Trump-endorsed landslide win over Liz Cheney in 2022 that first put her on the national radar. Hageman crushed Cheney 66% to 29% in the GOP primary after Cheney alienated her party and joined forces with Democrats on the January 6 Committee and later campaigned alongside Kamala Harris in 2024.

Hageman’s message is clear: Wyoming deserves a senator who represents the people not the D.C. elite.

Wyoming is as red as it gets:

  • Trump carried the state in 2024 with 72% of the vote.

  • Sen. Lummis won her seat in 2020 with nearly 73%.

  • The Cook Political Report rates the seat “Solid Republican.”

In other words, Hageman’s path to the Senate is all but assured especially with President Trump’s full backing.

“She will be one of the best U.S. Senators in the country. No question. We need her in there!” said Tyler Bowyer, COO of Turning Point Action, on X.

Outgoing Sen. Cynthia Lummis, known for her work on energy independence and as an early leader on cryptocurrency policy, said she simply didn’t have the stamina for another six years in the chamber.

“I am a devout legislator, but I feel like a sprinter in a marathon,” Lummis said. “The energy required doesn’t match up.”

She leaves big boots to fill but few conservatives doubt Hageman’s ability to rise to the challenge. In Congress, she has proven herself to be a fighter, a constitutionalist, and an unapologetic voice for rural America.

And if elected, she’ll join Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso, giving Wyoming one of the most formidable conservative duos in the upper chamber.

With the GOP poised to expand its Senate majority in 2026, Hageman’s candidacy represents more than just a personnel change it’s part of a broader shift toward America First leadership at every level.

From crushing the Cheney-Bush wing of the GOP to working alongside Trump to deliver real results, Harriet Hageman isn’t just running for Senate she’s preparing to help reshape it.
