Greta Thunberg Deported From Israel After Failed Gaza Stunt

Her latest publicity attempt backfires as Israeli authorities expose the hypocrisy of climate activism.

Greta Thunberg’s latest attempt to inject herself into global conflicts ended in predictable failure after Israeli authorities deported the climate activist on Tuesday. The 22-year-old, famous for rejecting air travel to save the planet, was ironically flown back to Sweden after being intercepted by the Israel Defense Forces while attempting to breach Gaza’s blockade aboard what officials dubbed the “selfie yacht.”

Thunberg and eleven other anti-Israel activists ignored multiple IDF warnings before their stunt was halted. The vessel, carrying less than a truckload of humanitarian aid, was quickly exposed as a publicity ploy rather than a serious relief mission. The Israeli Foreign Ministry mocked the activists’ efforts, noting that the minuscule amount of aid would be redirected through proper humanitarian channels:

"More than 1,200 aid trucks have entered Gaza from Israel within the past two weeks, and close to 11 million meals were transferred directly to civilians in Gaza," officials stated. "There are ways to deliver aid to the Gaza Strip they do not involve provocations and selfies."

While three other activists were immediately deported alongside Thunberg, eight more including a European Parliament member refused to sign deportation papers and now await judicial hearings. Thunberg, for her part, chose to avoid further legal complications, telling her lawyers that prolonged detention would “harm our cause.”

Before her deportation, Thunberg released a pre-recorded video accusing Israel of “kidnapping” her in international waters, a claim that rang especially tone-deaf considering the more than 250 Israelis kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023. In the video, Thunberg called on her supporters to pressure the Swedish government for her release even though she was never actually detained, but simply being processed for deportation.

President Donald Trump didn’t hold back in mocking Thunberg’s latest spectacle, stating, “I think Israel has enough problems without kidnapping Greta Thunberg,” and quipping that she should consider “anger management” classes.

Some key takeaways from Thunberg’s failed stunt:

  • The intercepted yacht carried less aid than a single truck, highlighting the performative nature of the mission.

  • Over 1,200 legitimate aid trucks have entered Gaza through Israel in the past two weeks, providing millions of meals.

  • Thunberg’s use of air travel for her deportation sharply contrasts with her long-standing anti-flying rhetoric.

  • Her accusation of being “kidnapped” was widely ridiculed, given the ongoing hostage crisis created by Hamas terrorists.

Thunberg has built her brand on melodrama and virtue signaling, but this latest episode reveals just how hollow her activism has become. While Israel continues its fight for survival against radical terrorism, activists like Thunberg prefer to stage photo ops that do little more than boost their own egos.
