Graham Says Targeting Iran Is Key to Freeing American Hostages in Gaza

Senator Urges Biden Administration to Hit Iran Where It Hurts.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) delivered a stark message over the weekend, arguing that the only way to secure the release of American hostages held by Hamas in Gaza is to start targeting the infrastructure that Iran values. During an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Graham made it clear that Iran, which he called the "great Satan," is the real power behind Hamas and must be held accountable if any progress is to be made in freeing the captives.

  • Graham’s comments come in the wake of the tragic discovery of six hostages, including 23-year-old American-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who were murdered by Hamas after being held for nearly 11 months.

  • The senator expressed deep sorrow for the families of the victims, particularly Goldberg-Polin’s parents, who had tirelessly worked for their son’s release.

  • He stated that increasing pressure on Iran, specifically by targeting key Iranian infrastructure such as oil refineries, is the only way to compel Hamas to release the remaining hostages.

Graham criticized the Biden administration’s current approach, questioning what consequences Hamas would actually face for their actions. He pointed out that despite extensive destruction in Gaza, Hamas remains indifferent to the suffering of the Palestinian people, using them as human shields.

Graham's call to action is clear: the Biden administration and Israel must send a direct message to the Ayatollah in Iran. By placing valuable Iranian assets on the target list, the U.S. can leverage the necessary pressure to bring American hostages home. Without such decisive action, Graham warned, the hostages’ fate remains grim.
