Republicans Deliver Wins for American Families This Thanksgiving

As Democrats stumble, GOP lawmakers focus on restoring order, fiscal sanity, and putting America First.

House Republicans are taking a well-earned Thanksgiving break with real accomplishments to be thankful for. In contrast to the chaos and incompetence flowing from the White House, GOP lawmakers are actually doing the work of the American people. This year, they’re delivering on promises, fighting for accountability, and defending American priorities.

The House Appropriations Committee, led by Chairman Tom Cole, summed it up in a themed “Thanksgiving menu” listing the Republican-led wins of the year a refreshing reminder that leadership still exists in Washington. Notably, they’ve:

  • Stopped the Democrats' government shutdown dead in its tracks, getting the country back on track with real fiscal discipline.

  • Advanced all 12 House appropriations bills through committee, with three already signed into law by President Trump.

  • Put real money back into Americans’ pockets, with the Ways and Means Committee projecting tax refunds will jump by up to $1,000 in 2025 potentially the largest refund season in U.S. history.

Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) highlighted that American families can finally “breathe a sigh of relief” this Thanksgiving thanks to a government that’s open, working, and prioritizing affordability. In fact, prices for Thanksgiving dinner dropped this year, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation a welcome change after years of inflation driven by reckless Democrat spending.

Under Republican leadership:

  • Congress saw its first conference committee in nearly a decade, showing that conservatives are serious about regular order and results.

  • The GOP managed a 406% increase in Democrat amendment attempts and a 228% spike in roll call votes, yet still protected conservative priorities and pushed forward with fiscal year 2026 progress.

  • A $1.4 billion investment was secured for VA hospital and cemetery construction, ensuring that veterans are treated with the dignity they’ve earned.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) reaffirmed the goal to fully restore the normal appropriations process something Congress hasn’t completed in years. But now, it’s within reach thanks to a House majority that actually understands how governing is supposed to work.

Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS) called the return to passing individual spending bills “responsible” and essential to “restoring transparency and accountability.” That kind of leadership has been sorely missing during the Biden-Harris administration, where bloated omnibus bills and partisan gamesmanship have become standard practice.

From bolstering national security to advancing energy independence and securing scientific leadership on the global stage, Republicans are laying the foundation for a stronger America not just for Thanksgiving, but for the future. As Rep. Chuck Fleischmann noted, “A new Golden Age is dawning on America.” And with conservatives driving the agenda, that prediction might just come true.

While Democrats argue about who’s really running the country (hint: it’s not Biden), Republicans are delivering results. They’re thankful for their constituents, their staff, and the values that built this nation and they’re determined to keep fighting for them.

Now, with the holiday behind us, they’re ready to return to work. And as the appropriations process continues, one thing is clear: under Republican leadership, Congress is finally getting back to business.
