Rare Anti-Hamas Protests Erupt in Gaza as Citizens Demand Peace and End to Terror Rule

Brave Gazans defy Hamas thugs, demand freedom, and call for release of Israeli hostages as terror group cracks down.

In a stunning and rare show of defiance, residents of Gaza took to the streets Tuesday, risking their lives to protest Hamas rule and demand peace. The message was clear: Gaza’s people are done being ruled by terror.

Protesters in Beit Lahiya carried white flags and chanted, “Hamas get out!” and “Gaza’s people don’t want wars.” Their courage in standing up to the Iran-backed terrorist regime that has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007 was nothing short of heroic.

In Khan Younis, the crowds chanted “Oh the shame, you sold Gaza with dollars,” and
“Hamas is a terrorist.”

These demonstrations come as Israel has intensified military operations targeting top Hamas leaders and infrastructure following Hamas’s continued refusal to release the remaining 59 hostages kidnapped during the group’s October 7 massacre.

  • Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, Canada, and other nations.

  • Protesters are demanding an end to Hamas rule, and openly calling for peace and the release of hostages.

  • In response, Hamas operatives began assaulting protesters, further exposing the group’s fear of its own people and its need to rule through brutality and fear.

This is not the first protest, but it’s the most significant since January 2024. It’s also the most widespread, with calls for more protests coming from community leaders in neighborhoods like Shejaiya and from Southern Gaza clans, who are now openly accusing Hamas of “selling and gambling with Palestinian blood.”

Despite the historic nature of the protests, media outlets like Al Jazeera long known for their pro-Hamas bias have refused to cover the story, drawing condemnation from Palestinian activists.

“Al Jazeera’s journalist… is working to change the narrative,” tweeted peace activist Hamza Howidy.

Meanwhile, Israel continues its campaign to dismantle Hamas’s terror network. Over the past week, more than a dozen Hamas leaders have been eliminated by Israeli forces. IDF troops have also begun new ground operations in central and southern Gaza to secure a buffer zone and push Hamas further into collapse.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has warned that if Hamas continues to hold hostages, Israel will annex more territory in Gaza to protect its citizens.

“The more Hamas persists… the more territory it will lose,” Katz said.

This uprising is a remarkable turning point. After years of silence under the iron grip of Hamas, the people of Gaza are rising, demanding not just a ceasefire but the complete removal of Hamas and a future where they can finally live free of terror.
