Gabbard Fires Back At Obama Over Russia Hoax Allegations

DNI Tulsi Gabbard accuses Obama of deflecting as Trump demands accountability for 2016 election interference claims.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is taking aim at former President Barack Obama after he dismissed accusations that his administration manipulated intelligence reports to undermine Donald Trump’s first term. Gabbard, alongside Trump and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, has accused Obama and key Obama-era officials of orchestrating a narrative of Russian interference to delegitimize Trump’s 2016 victory.

“Barack Hussein Obama is the ringleader,” Trump declared. “Hillary Clinton was right there with him, and so was Sleepy Joe Biden, and so were the rest of them [former FBI Director Jim] Comey, [former Director of National Intelligence James] Clapper, the whole group. They tried to rig an election, and then they got caught.”

Obama’s spokesperson Patrick Rodenbush fired back, calling the accusations “bizarre” and a “weak attempt at distraction.” But Gabbard isn’t backing down, calling Obama’s response “the art of deflection.”

Gabbard’s key points include:

  • Intelligence Shift: Gabbard says documents prove that intelligence assessments initially stated Russia had neither the intent nor capability to affect the 2016 election. However, a sudden “180-degree shift” occurred after Trump’s victory.

  • Obama’s Role: According to Gabbard, Obama convened the National Security Council and directed DNI James Clapper to create a new intelligence assessment that contradicted earlier findings.

  • Use of Discredited Sources: Gabbard alleges that the new assessment relied on debunked materials, including the Steele dossier, despite intelligence officials knowing it was unreliable.

“The most important thing is that the American people see accountability,” Gabbard told Lara Trump on Fox News’s Will Cain Show. “There was an effort, led by President Obama, to create a document that would lay the foundation for a years-long coup against President Trump an attempt to subvert the will of the American people who elected him.”

Gabbard emphasized that over 100 documents released last week, with more to come, highlight deep flaws and political bias in the intelligence community’s handling of the 2016 election. “There’s a long laundry list of facts and intelligence reporting that directly contradicts the statement coming from President Obama’s office,” she said.

Whistleblowers from within the intelligence community have reportedly stepped forward, backing Gabbard’s claims and providing additional evidence to the Department of Justice. “We have referred all the documents we have to the DOJ to bring about accountability and ensure that the integrity of our democratic republic exists,” Gabbard added.

The clash between Gabbard and Obama underscores the lingering fallout from the 2016 election, as conservatives continue to argue that the so-called Russia collusion narrative was manufactured to weaken Trump’s presidency. With Trump leading the GOP ticket for 2024, the calls for justice and transparency are only growing louder.
