DNI Gabbard Accuses Deep State Of Burying Trump-Russia Truth
Gabbard alleges Obama officials fabricated intelligence to launch a “coup” against Trump.

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard is once again leveling explosive claims that senior Obama administration officials deliberately manipulated intelligence to undermine Donald Trump’s presidency. Appearing on Jesse Watters Primetime Wednesday, Gabbard said “deep state actors” within Washington sought to prevent her findings on the Trump-Russia collusion narrative from “seeing the light of day.”
“There are a lot of deep state actors still here within Washington. President Trump wants us to find the truth. I want to find that truth. The American people deserve the truth, and they deserve accountability,” Gabbard stated. She praised Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice for creating a new strike force tasked with investigating intelligence failures tied to the 2016 election.
Gabbard’s accusations center on three key claims:
For months leading up to the 2016 election, intelligence agencies agreed that Russia lacked both the intent and capability to interfere with U.S. elections.
After Trump’s victory, former President Barack Obama allegedly directed senior officials including CIA Director John Brennan and DNI James Clapper to produce a new assessment suggesting Russian meddling, contradicting prior conclusions.
The Steele dossier, now widely discredited, was still used as a foundation for the intelligence assessment.
Gabbard has released over 100 declassified documents she claims prove there was a dramatic post-election shift in the intelligence community’s stance. “For months preceding the 2016 election, the Intelligence Community shared a consensus view: Russia lacked the intent and capability to hack U.S. elections,” she wrote on X. “But weeks after President Trump’s historic 2016 victory defeating Hillary Clinton, everything changed.”
An Obama spokesperson called Gabbard’s allegations “outrageous” and “bizarre,” arguing that nothing in the declassified documents contradicts the intelligence community’s findings on Russian influence. “These findings were affirmed in a 2020 report by the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee, led by then-Chairman Marco Rubio,” the spokesperson said.
Former Obama national security official Ned Price also criticized Gabbard’s claims, accusing her of “conspiratorial fiction” and conflating “hacking” with broader influence operations. The Senate Intelligence Committee’s 2020 report concluded that while Russia attempted to influence public opinion, there was no evidence of vote manipulation or direct collusion by the Trump campaign.
President Trump has praised Gabbard’s efforts, calling her revelations proof of a “deep state coup” and accusing Obama of “treason.” Trump recently reposted an AI-generated video on Truth Social depicting Obama being arrested, sparking controversy among Democrats and the media.
Gabbard confirmed she has issued a criminal referral to the DOJ, promising to continue pressing for accountability. “The American people deserve the truth, and they deserve answers,” she said, adding that additional documents will soon be made public.
As the 2024 election looms, Gabbard’s claims are likely to intensify the political firestorm surrounding the origins of the Trump-Russia narrative, a scandal that continues to divide Washington nearly a decade after Trump’s victory.
