Florida Vows to Discipline Teachers Who Celebrate Charlie Kirk’s Death
Officials warn that educators mocking Kirk’s death will face consequences for unprofessional behavior.

Florida has made it clear any teacher who mocks or celebrates the tragic assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk will face serious consequences.
On Thursday, Florida Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas issued a stern memo to school superintendents, pledging investigations into educators who engaged in this disturbing behavior. His message was blunt while teachers have free speech rights, those rights do not extend to conduct that undermines trust between families and the education system.
“It has been brought to my attention that some Florida educators have posted despicable comments on social media regarding the horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk,” Kamoutsas wrote. “I will be conducting an investigation of every educator who engages in this vile, sanctionable behavior.”
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis fully backed Kamoutsas, calling it “completely unacceptable” for teachers to cheer the death of a 31-year-old father of two.
The outrage hasn’t been confined to Florida. Across the country, institutions are cracking down:
A dean of students at Middle Tennessee State University was fired for declaring she had “zero sympathy” for Kirk.
A University of Mississippi staffer lost their job after reposting “hurtful, insensitive comments” online about his murder.
Other educators nationwide have faced public backlash and job loss after mocking the killing.
This reaction highlights a deeper problem within America’s education system. Far too often, left-wing ideology seeps into classrooms, poisoning the trust parents expect between teachers and students. Instead of focusing on academics, some educators reveal political biases so toxic that they openly celebrate violence against conservatives.
The double standard is glaring. Imagine the outrage if educators had mocked the assassination of a liberal figure. The media would be relentless, demanding resignations and reforms. But when conservatives are targeted, many on the Left not only stay silent but cheer.
Florida’s leadership is taking the right stand by holding educators accountable. Parents deserve to know their children are taught by professionals not radical activists using classrooms as platforms for hate.
Kirk’s assassination should have been a moment of unity against political violence. Instead, it exposed the ugly truth: a faction of the Left believes violence against conservatives is something to laugh about. That cannot be tolerated in a civilized society.
