Dutch Government Collapses After Right-Wing Party Quits Over Immigration

Geert Wilders follows through on promise to reject soft asylum policy, leaving globalist coalition in turmoil.

In a dramatic turn for European politics, the Dutch government collapsed Tuesday after Geert Wilders’ Party for Freedom (PVV) pulled out of the ruling coalition over lax immigration policy making good on a promise to fight for the Dutch people and their national identity.

Wilders, who leads the largest and most popular party in the Netherlands, had warned for weeks that he wouldn’t support a coalition that refused to impose strict asylum controls. When Prime Minister Dick Schoof failed to deliver, Wilders followed through.

“We had no choice,” Wilders told reporters. “I promised the voters the strictest asylum policy ever, but that was not granted to you.”

As a result, the Dutch government has effectively fallen, less than a year into its term. Prime Minister Schoof announced he would submit his resignation to the king, with a caretaker cabinet taking over until new elections are held.

Here’s what led to the collapse:

  • Wilders demanded a pause on new asylum seekers to clear a growing backlog of cases.

  • His 10-point plan included the deportation of Syrian nationals, citing the end of Syria’s civil war.

  • He called for a “one strike you’re out” deportation policy for migrants convicted of violent or sexual crimes.

  • He also renewed his call for the “de-Islamization” of the Netherlands, warning of a growing cultural threat from unchecked immigration.

Prime Minister Schoof dismissed Wilders’ departure as “unnecessary and irresponsible” but the real irresponsibility has been the globalist establishment’s refusal to listen to its citizens. For years, Dutch voters have signaled they want real borders, real vetting, and an end to uncontrolled asylum flows.

Now the message is impossible to ignore.

Despite the media’s best efforts to smear Wilders as “far-right,” the Party for Freedom currently commands 20% support, the highest among all Dutch parties. Though down from its post-election peak of 33%, it still leads both the Labour-Green Left alliance (19%) and the establishment People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (18%).

Across Europe, similar movements are gaining steam. Italy’s Giorgia Meloni, Hungary’s Viktor Orbán, and France’s Marine Le Pen have all risen on promises to put their citizens first and halt the erosion of national sovereignty under the weight of mass migration.

The Dutch collapse marks yet another failure of centrist coalitions to deliver on what voters actually demand: safe streets, national control, and immigration policies rooted in common sense not ideology.

As Wilders said Tuesday, “I signed up to the strictest asylum policy, not the downfall of The Netherlands.”

Europe is watching. America should be too.
