DOJ Spent Over $100 Million Pushing DEI and Woke Policies in Schools

A bombshell report has revealed that the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) spent over $100 million on woke education programs between 2021 and 2024, funneling taxpayer dollars into school districts nationwide to promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), restorative justice, and social-emotional learning. The findings, first obtained by The Daily Wire, show that this funding was awarded through 102 grants across 36 states, affecting nearly 3 million K-12 students.

The DOJ’s STOP School Violence Program, originally intended to enhance school safety, instead pushed radical leftist ideology, according to Parents Defending Education (PDE), the group that conducted the investigation. PDE found that the DOJ prioritized DEI initiatives over addressing school violence, despite growing concerns from parents over deteriorating classroom discipline and rising crime in schools.

Among the most egregious examples of DOJ-funded projects:

1. Minnesota: Nearly $2 million awarded to embed anti-racism and anti-oppression practices in classrooms.

2. Ohio: Bowling Green State University received $2 million for a mental health curriculum including yoga, mindfulness meditation, and knitting circles.

3. Pennsylvania:

   • $1.7 million to Penn State for a program focused on equity in school violence prevention, prioritizing LGBTQ and BIPOC students.

   • $1.6 million to a collaboration between Temple University and the Philadelphia School District for “trauma-informed conflict resolution” emphasizing racial and historical trauma.

4. California: $1 million for a program in Jurupa Valley Unified School District focusing on LGBTQIA+ issues and mental health.

5. New Jersey: $1 million to combat school violence by equating “teasing” to “oppression”.

6. Wisconsin: Nearly $1 million to Milwaukee Public Schools for a racial equity initiative.

PDE President Nicki Neily blasted the DOJ’s spending priorities, calling it “appalling” that taxpayer money meant for school safety was instead used to fund leftist indoctrination. “American families deserve better, and the sooner waste like this is eliminated, the better,” Neily stated.

The report surfaces just weeks before President-elect Donald Trump takes office, signaling a major shift in education policy. Throughout his campaign, Trump vowed to eliminate woke ideology in schools, taking a strong stance against gender extremism and DEI programs. His campaign ads exposing Democratic gender policies were highly effective in helping him secure victory in 2024.

With Trump set to take office in January, many expect a swift rollback of Biden-era radical education policies. The next administration is likely to redirect federal education funding toward real school safety measures and traditional academic priorities instead of left-wing social engineering.
