DOJ Shuts Down Media Hoax on ICE Shooting 'Mass Resignation'

Civil Rights Division slams false report as leftist media spreads misinformation to smear ICE and the Trump administration.

The Biden-era media machine is at it again fabricating chaos, twisting facts, and trying desperately to undermine law enforcement and the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

This week, the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division forcefully debunked a viral “fake news” report that falsely claimed a “mass resignation” of top DOJ officials occurred over the handling of the ICE-involved shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis.

The report published by MS Now, formerly MSNBC alleged that at least four Civil Rights Division employees resigned “in protest” of Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon’s decision not to launch a civil rights investigation into the case.

There’s just one problem: none of it is true. “This is fake news,” Dhillon told The Daily Wire. “No division employee quit.”

According to DOJ officials:

  • Three people who were mentioned in the report applied for early retirement weeks before the shooting, which occurred on January 7.

  • A fourth individual gave notice over a month prior, in early December.

  • Two others cited in the story haven’t resigned at all and are still reporting to work.

In short, there has been no mass resignation, no scandal, and no internal rebellion. Just another example of the corporate press weaponizing rumors to stir outrage and attack both ICE and the Trump administration’s immigration agenda.

“The media’s never-ending attempts to drum up drama and strife within the DOJ are exhausting,” Dhillon said. “My team and I will not let it distract us from our mission of protecting the civil rights of ALL Americans.”

The shooting incident, currently under investigation by both the FBI and ICE’s Office of Professional Responsibility, involved an ICE officer firing on Good after she reportedly struck him with her vehicle during a field operation. Video footage confirms that the officer was hit by the car before firing a single shot. Good died on the scene.

Despite the circumstances, leftist media outlets rushed to portray the incident as an ICE overreach even calling for criminal charges while burying or ignoring key facts, including:

  • The agent was carrying out a lawful arrest order.

  • Good reportedly had ties to radical anti-ICE protest networks in Minnesota.

  • DHS has stated that ICE agents have increasingly come under attack from violent activists emboldened by sanctuary policies and progressive rhetoric.

The DOJ confirmed that, as of now, there is no basis for a federal civil rights investigation, and all internal agency protocols are being followed.

“As with any officer-involved shooting,” a DOJ official said, “ICE OPR has its own investigation underway. This runs parallel to any FBI investigation.”

This latest media blunder comes as ICE and federal law enforcement continue to face resistance and vilification from activist groups, corporate media, and Democratic politicians more concerned with optics than the safety of American communities.

Let’s be clear: this wasn’t journalism it was a hit job. And once again, the facts reveal the truth: no scandal, no resignations, and no surrender from the men and women protecting our borders.
