Former DNC Chair Says Trump Is to Blame for National Guard Shooting by Afghan Refugee
Wasserman Schultz deflects blame from Biden’s failed vetting policies, attacks Trump after death of SPC. Sarah Beckstrom.

As the nation mourns the tragic loss of Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, a 20-year-old National Guard soldier killed in a brutal attack near the White House, former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz is doing what Democrats do best blaming Donald Trump.
Yes, you read that right. A Biden-admitted Afghan national allegedly pulled the trigger but in Wasserman Schultz’s world, Trump is to blame.
“The president looks everywhere except inward to blame his own policies,” she claimed, in reference to Trump’s call to revisit the vetting process for Afghan refugees. “It’s pretty disgusting.”
No what’s disgusting is turning a national tragedy into a partisan smear campaign to deflect attention from the Biden administration’s catastrophic failures.
Let’s be clear about the facts:
The suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, entered the United States under Biden’s Operation Allies Welcome, not under Trump.
That program admitted over 77,000 Afghan nationals, many with minimal vetting, according to reports from watchdog organizations and congressional oversight.
SPC. Beckstrom died after volunteering to serve on Thanksgiving so others could be with their families. She was gunned down in the capital of the United States.
And now, instead of acknowledging the glaring national security failure, Wasserman Schultz is trying to shift blame to the man who warned about this kind of breakdown from the beginning.
“We need to make sure we always have the proper and appropriate and tight vetting processes,” she said as if that’s not exactly what Trump did, and Biden reversed.
This is the same playbook Democrats used during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal. They ignored warnings, rushed through vetting, opened the floodgates, and then played dumb when chaos followed. And now, they’re desperate to pin the fallout on Trump the one president who had the guts to enforce borders and demand accountability.
Let’s also not forget what veterans like Army Ranger Sean Parnell warned about back then: some Afghans who worked with U.S. forces had already betrayed Americans, even before the withdrawal. Trust, without verification, is not a policy it’s a liability.
Trump is right to revisit Biden’s refugee vetting disaster. It's not about politics it’s about protecting Americans. Because a vetting system that allows a foreign national to open fire on U.S. troops in our nation’s capital is not a system at all.
Wasserman Schultz can try to spin it, distract, and distort. But the blood on the streets of D.C. is not from Trump’s policies. It’s the direct result of Biden’s reckless immigration agenda and now a young soldier is dead because of it.
If this doesn't wake up the country to the dangerous incompetence of the Biden administration, what will?
