DeSantis Criticizes Kamala Harris' Progressive Record

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis slams Harris’ track record as she locks up Democratic presidential nomination.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticized Vice President Kamala Harris during a press conference this week, following her swift rise to secure the Democratic presidential nomination after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election.

DeSantis pointed out that Harris has been rated as the most far-left member of the U.S. Senate, a fact the media has downplayed while rewriting the narrative around Biden's decision to put Harris in charge of the border crisis.

“I think that … her tenure as VP has been disastrous,” DeSantis said. “She was put in charge of the border. The media was running with that in 2021. Now they’re saying, ‘Well, no, she wasn’t overseeing the border’.”

He noted that reporters who initially reported Harris's role at the border are now contradicting their previous coverage. “They’re running interference for her because, of all the failures, that border ranks near the top of the failures of the Biden-Harris administration,” DeSantis asserted. “If you go back and watch her statements for when she was running for president in the 2020 cycle, I mean, she basically said, have an open border, she wants taxpayer-funded health care and benefits for illegal aliens. She doesn’t think you should deport somebody. So she is, as bad as Biden has been on that, she’s even more liberal on that.”

DeSantis also highlighted Harris's extreme positions on several issues:

  • Advocating for government-controlled healthcare.

  • Supporting high tax increases.

  • Weak on crime, and backing rioters from the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests.

In a social media post, DeSantis added that Harris supports destroying the oil and gas industry and confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens. “The Democrats are only excited about Kamala Harris at the moment because they no longer have a candidate who’s catatonic. But she may fall flat on her face before the convention,” he added.

DeSantis reminded the audience that Harris had to drop out of the 2020 Democratic primary before voting even began due to her lack of traction among voters. “She’s a lousy candidate and would be an even worse president,” he concluded.
