DeSantis Confirms Drivers Can Defend Themselves From Rioters In Florida
Unlike California, Florida backs citizens' rights and enforces zero tolerance for mob rule.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made it crystal clear where the Sunshine State stands when it comes to lawless mobs blocking roads and threatening innocent drivers you have the right to defend yourself.
In a recent interview with Dave Rubin, DeSantis outlined Florida’s firm policy against the kind of violent street protests and riots that have paralyzed cities like Los Angeles. With anti-ICE riots spiraling out of control in California, DeSantis offered a stark contrast between Florida’s leadership and the disastrous Democratic policies fueling chaos elsewhere.
“In terms of the unrest, Florida’s policy is very simple,” DeSantis explained. “You have every right to exercise your First Amendment rights to protest and demonstrate. The minute you cross that line, you are going to be met with serious pushback, and you will be held accountable.”
Florida law enforcement cleared Hamas demonstrations off Miami streets in just 13 minutes.
In Central Florida, state highway patrol removed protesters blocking state roads in only 11 minutes.
California, by contrast, remains a sanctuary state where illegal aliens receive driver’s licenses, in-state tuition, and taxpayer-funded healthcare while politicians tie the hands of law enforcement.
DeSantis sharply criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for enabling criminal behavior by failing to enforce the law. “They’ve developed a sense of entitlement that somehow, federal laws don’t apply to them because they don’t like them,” DeSantis said.
The Florida governor didn’t stop there. He addressed one of the most dangerous situations facing drivers caught in mob violence: being surrounded while trapped in traffic.
“If you’re driving on one of those streets, and a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle and threatens you, you have a right to flee for your safety,” DeSantis stated. “If you drive off and you hit one of these people, that’s their fault for impinging on you. You don’t have to sit there and just be a sitting duck.”
DeSantis’s zero tolerance policy stands in direct opposition to the weak leadership plaguing blue states, where criminals are emboldened and law-abiding citizens are left vulnerable. In Florida, the government has made it clear: law and order will be maintained, and the rights of citizens to protect themselves will not be infringed.
As violent mobs continue to threaten American cities under Democrat rule, Florida’s approach serves as a model for restoring sanity, safety, and respect for the rule of law.
