DeSantis Claims Federal Lack of Cooperation in Florida's Assassination Attempt Probe
The Biden administration refuses to work with state investigators as they seek answers on the Trump assassination attempt.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has accused the Biden administration of stonewalling state investigators in Florida’s ongoing probe into the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. During an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, DeSantis made it clear that federal officials are refusing to cooperate with Florida’s investigation, raising questions about transparency and accountability.
Earlier this week, DeSantis signed an executive order authorizing Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to open a criminal investigation into the incident, which occurred at Trump International Golf Club. But according to the governor, federal authorities are blocking state officials at every turn.
“The answer is ‘no,’ they’re not being cooperative,” DeSantis stated. “Our investigators were even rebuffed from going near the fence line outside of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.”
This refusal to cooperate isn’t just a bureaucratic tussle it underscores the Biden administration’s apparent attempt to keep the state of Florida out of an investigation into an attack that took place on its own soil. DeSantis expressed little hope that federal officials would cooperate, accusing the administration of wanting to keep Florida’s legal system out of the process.
DeSantis emphasized that the assassination attempt crossed into Florida’s jurisdiction in multiple ways:
Violations of state law occurred across at least three judicial circuits.
Florida officials have a legal duty to investigate and bring charges where appropriate.
The public deserves transparency, and so far, the feds aren’t delivering.
Concerned that federal authorities may not be forthcoming, DeSantis took steps to preserve evidence at the state level. "As soon as we got word of this on Sunday, I told our guys in state law enforcement to save all his social media because you know Facebook will delete it, the tech companies want to delete it,” DeSantis said, referring to the suspect in the assassination attempt.
DeSantis isn’t just troubled by the lack of cooperation from the Biden administration he’s also critical of their handling of other major incidents, citing the lack of transparency in the aftermath of events like the Las Vegas shooting. “We have not gotten answers about things like that Las Vegas shooting from many years ago,” DeSantis remarked, suggesting a broader pattern of federal agencies withholding crucial information from the public.
In Florida’s investigation, state officials aim to uncover key details, including the suspect’s digital trail and possible connections or motives. DeSantis pointedly asked, “How did that happen? How did this guy end up in Florida, in those bushes, trying to assassinate the former President of the United States and current Republican nominee?”
The governor’s frustration with the federal response reflects the wider disillusionment with the Biden-Harris administration’s leadership. Florida, under DeSantis, is determined to seek answers and deliver the transparency that the American people deserve.
