Democrats Defend Pro-Hamas Columbia Protester After Trump Admin Detains Him

Democrats are rushing to the defense of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University protest agitator who was detained by the Department of Homeland Security after participating in pro-Hamas demonstrations. The Trump administration has made it clear: anyone supporting a designated terror organization will face consequences.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the administration’s plan to strip visas and green cards from those engaging in activities aligned with Hamas. “We will be revoking the visas and/or green cards of Hamas supporters in America so they can be deported,” Rubio stated.

Yet, instead of standing with law enforcement and national security, Democrats are crying “authoritarianism.”

• Senate Judiciary Democrats called Khalil’s detention an attack on free speech, likening Trump to a dictator.

• Rep. Rashida Tlaib insisted that deporting foreign agitators supporting a terror group is “fascist.”

• Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fearmongered that Khalil’s detainment means “citizens could be next.”

The reality? This isn’t about free speech it’s about national security. Khalil was not arrested for expressing an opinion. He was detained because he supported Hamas, an officially designated terrorist organization responsible for the brutal October 7 massacre of Israeli civilians.

The Trump administration is enforcing immigration laws to keep America safe. The White House made its stance clear in a bold social media post:

“SHALOM, MAHMOUD. ‘ICE proudly apprehended and detained Mahmoud Khalil, a Radical Foreign Pro-Hamas Student on the campus of @Columbia University. This is the first arrest of many to come.’ President Donald J. Trump”

Unlike the weak, lawless approach of the Biden years, Trump is taking action against those who harbor, aid, or align with terrorists. If you’re in this country supporting Hamas, your visa or green card is not a shield.

Democrats can defend these extremists all they want, but real Americans know that siding with terror sympathizers is a losing strategy.
